No, I think it's quite different. People who want to die are usually successful. They plan their suicide so that others cannot prevent it and they use very lethal means. Many unsuccessful suicide attempts are made by people who are not committed to being dead, they just want the pain of being alive to be over. Some people attempt suicide as a way of crying out for help. Those who want to die usually don't cry out for help, they plan it so that no one will try to stop them. Unfortunately, many of the people who just don't want to live anymore (ie. want to avoid the pain of life) kill themselves "accidentally" because they wanted to cry out for help but no one was able to rescue them in time.

It sounds like you're pretty miserable. If you "don't want to live", doesn't mean that you "want to die." It probably only means that you want something worth living for and want to experience some joy or happiness in your life that you are not experiencing at the moment.
I can only speak from my own experience, and that is that there is much more to life than meets the eye. If our spirit is dead, then we feel dead. With a dead spirit, we are missing the very thing that brings life to us. Only God can make that spiritual side of you come alive. When you ask Jesus to change your life, "old things pass away" and God gives you a new life. He'll take your old life the bible says, and "bury it in the sea" and separate all the bad things in your past "as far as the east is from the west."
Let me know if you want to hear more.

No i dont think they are the same because i have suicidal thoughts but i have a phobia of dying. So i think while you are tired are living and all that it involves you might not actually want to die. Maybe you want a new life, that is completely different where you dont have the same problems. Dying is a feeling of unknown where as living is knowing but not liking what you see and i think knowing is better than not knowing what awaits you. So i think to say you dont want to live is saying you dont want to live in the life that you have at the moment but to say you want to die is saying you wish to end your existance and any chance at a different or alternative life. I dont want to live anymore but i dont want to die which makes everything you are going through all the more harder. Also, i just had a thought, by saying you dont want to live may also mean you dont want to live actively in society. So you might just feel like the need to hide in your bed and pull the covers over your head. God knows a lot of us have felt like that before. Goodluck..

I have often felt that I was afraid to live and afraid to die. When I say this, I'm not suicidal, I just don't want to live the life I've been living anymore. Time for a change!!!!

Tricky question. Honestly, no. You can exist, and just not live. Living is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the number of moments that take your breath away. Wanting to die is just being done with absolutely everything.

No, because I've been there. It's not that death is appealing in itself. Death is a very intimidating concept. I just got to a point where life was so painful I didn't want to deal with it anymore. I wanted to get out of my life, but didn't want to die, necessarily.

They are both good debate subjects, yet they are only 'wants'.
In reality, if a want to die leads to suicide, thats final ! But,
to not want to live, is a condition with a 'return policy'...
Miracles do happen. Hang in there.

Technically, to not want to live is more to not want to exist, not in such a way of killing ones self, but to erase all existence (history, life influences, etc.), wanting to die is wanting to be killed either by your own hand or some other means of self-destructing...

No. If you WANT to die, you have probably thought about killing yourself. If you don't want to live... well, I have had that feeling before to where I wish god would just let me die, but I knew better than to kill myself. It's different
