That depends on the type of aircraft.

The Gossamer Albatross took off and flew across the English Channel entirely under human power, so there were no fossil fuels used.

A fully loaded 747-400 with a max gross take-off weight of 910,000 lbs burns 24,000 lbs per hour at max normal thrust. In 6 minutes, that means over one ton of jet fuel is burned, or about 400 gallons.

Of course, there are many variables here like gross weight, density altitude, wind, and runway length.

its not really about how much fuel it takes an airplane to takeoff, because it depends on a variety of things such as how far is there destination, what type of fuel there using, there payload( people or aviation instruments)... i think maybe this website can help:

* on some occasion, there are few aircrafts do take off with JATO (Jet Assisted Take Off) C-130 Hercules is one of them
4-8 packs of small rockets attached to the back (bottom)

* one of the fastest planes on earth, SR-71 Blackbird, when it takes off, it consumes MORE THAN 1/4 ( > 25% ) of its fuel tanks (the exact percentage is classified, hehehe )

It depends on all of the following to some degree:

1) grade of runway (% up / % down)
2) size and type of engine (Jet/Turboprop/Recipticating)
3) size and weight of aircraft
4) pressure altitude and outside air tempture
