If it were an indoor cat, I don't really see the problem, provided it's in good health and you're not allergic. I wouldn't be crazy about letting an outdoor cat sleep in your bed. It could wander through all sorts of gross stuff, and then tracked it in and infected you while you sleep. I think it's a bad idea for health reasons.

Regina, How do you plan to stop the cat from sleeping in your bed? It has pretty mucy been my experience that the cat does as it darn well pleases. Just keep the fleas off the cat and don't worry about it. I would close the cat door at night though or you are liable to wake up with a dead mouse on your bed-lol!!

I wouldnt let a outdoor cat sleep in my bed. You never know what they were walking on outside. Seriously do you want that in your bed? I personally dont let my cats who are only indoor sleep in my bed either because I am not comfortable with something that walks around in a litter box sleep in my bed.
They have a one of those tree house scratching posts that come with the cubby holes that cats can use for beds. They seem very comfortable there so all parties are happy in the house.

I have 2 cats that are both indoor/outdoor cats and I let both of them sleep with me. The only thing that you want to be careful of is bugs...if they bring them in from the outside, they could get in your bed and then on you. Make sure they're on a flea/tick medication (Advantage, Frontline, etc.) and check them thoroughly before you go to sleep. Other than that, enjoy having the company in bed with you. Listening to a cat purrr puts me right to sleep!

Our cat is indoor outdoor and yes she sleep in bed with us at night, usually cuddled up to my husband. The vet had no problems with this practice but strongly recommended that a cat who lives indoors lives longer.

If you cat sleeps in the same bed with you, the cats becomes closer to you as a master figure. It is one of the ways the cats leaves it sent.

Depends on where you live - can depend on what kind of things could be getting on the cat. Therefore - getting on you, in your bed, in your clothes. Check the cat every now and then if you are going to let it sleep with you. Make sure there are no ticks, fleas, bugs, etc. Or dead animal leavings on the cat from being outside.

I don't like animals on the furniture or beds. Give the cat it's own bed in the laundry with the door closed and window slightly open if it's safe to do so.

It is really a matter of what you prefer. We always let our oldest cat sleep on our bed (he slept down by our feet) until we got our new kitten. Unfortunately she likes to sleep right up against my face (to the point that I can't breath) so neither are allowed in our bedroom at night now. They don't seem to mind though, they have each other for company and play all night.

Mine does. She stays inside when I'm working or not home and when I come home, I let her go on the backstep or in the backyard. She passes through the fence sometimes and goes across by the neighbour's basement or in the bushes. She sleeps on my bed whenever she wants and I've had her for almost six years.
She is a true blessing from God and I love her. She makes me smile and I hug and kiss her a lot.
