I like this guy. He is so sweet. He is a virgin, but he's 17. I really like him. He is always there for me and is my best friend. I want to ask him out but am afraid to. I am 13 but I really like this guy. I know age doesn't matter to him. He tells me all the time because I used to like his best friend Ian who is also 17 but I would never go out with Ian. I really like Paul. He makes me smile and he always can cheer me up. I really like him. He is so nice to everyone and respects people. He thinks before he acts and is a good guy.

That is a tricky one. Each state has different laws and it is really important to understand the laws specific to your state.
You can date him, but there are limits as to what you can do.
Ignore all the people who say you have to be 18. They do not know anything about the law apparently, or the rules around statutory rape.

Dateing is fine, not harm. Sex however is another story. Your state laws might make him a legal adult at 17 and any sexual activity can land him in jail. That said, waiting is hard expecially when you care for someone as much as you seem to with Paul. If you two waited you would have to wait until you were 17. Do you think you would last that long? Do you think your relationship will? You seem very mature, but you are 13 and that is a little young to commit yourself to one realtionship for 4 years just to insure you don't send your loved one to jail.
I say date, have fun, avoid sex like the plague if you love this guy.

i would have to go with no. Only because AT THIS TIME i think there is way too much of a lifestyle and maturity difference from a 17 to a 13 year old.
Maybe in like 2 or three years it would be alittle better?

Even though he might be sweet and cute... he is too old for you. I know that you said the both of you feel that age doesn't matter but you are only 13 years old and aren't mature enough for things that he might want to do. I think that you should start out with guys your own age. If you are going to be dating older guys perhaps you should try guys who are a little closer to your age like 15. It is my opinion that you are to young to even be dating but I'm not your mother am I. Well, I hope that things work out for you.

Absolutely not. Nothing against the guy at all, but four years at that age is a huge difference.
Remain his friend, and who knows, in five or six years, you may turn out to be meant for each other. At this point, though, the absolute best you can hope for is destroying a friendship.

I'm 14 and my advice to you is that regardless of how good of a guy he might be(and I believe that this is true; im sure he's a good guy) is that he is alot older than you and that if you guys go out and your parents or his find out....it will cause alot of trouble for HIM. Especially if you guys make it a year together and he turns 18.....that's just asking for trouble, since it's kind of illegal and he coul get in loads of trouble. So if you really caer about him and like him like that....wait until you are a little older.

Too much age difference at this time.It is not normal for a 17 year old to be attracted to someone 13.It shows he cant get along in his peer group.

If my memory serves me correct working as a counselor. It is illegal!!!! The 17 year old could possibly get in some trouble. Go back to being 13 you have plenty of years in your life to be with a boy!!! Be a kid! You only get one time in your life to be young.
