I went to its site and don't know which one to install. help?

I am assuming you use Windows XP. If not write again, and I will adjust my answer.
Because GIMP was originally designed for computers that don't run Windows you will need to install the "GIMP Tool Kit" or GTK first so that it runs properly on Windows. You can get this from the first link below. (You will need to know how to use zip files too.)
Once you have installed the GTK, download the latest version of GIMP for Windows (version 2.2.14) from the second link below.
Once you have everything installed make sure you check out the on-line version of "Grokking the GIMP" it will greatly help you learn to use the GIMP (the third link below)

GIMP is a free program you can use for a bunch ot tasks like photo retouching, image authoring and image composition. In my opinion it is the best free photo editing software on the market. It's not as powerful as photoshop, but it's free and can be augmented with plugins and extensions. These features make it the most advanced free photo-retouching software. GIMP can be used as a simple paint program or a complex image-manipulation software (thanks also to to a very advanced scripting interface)
I recommend not to use torrents or downloads from anywhere else, as they might be backdoored.

Hi!! Well Go to Downloads on the left side of the page then it will appear a list of possible options well as it is free software it of course offers first the distro for Linux if you use Linux then you can download the stable version from the first link, now if you are using windows or mac there is a link a little bit below

You want GIMP for Windows. Either 2.2 or 2.4. 2.4 being the latest version. It's a great graphics editor.
