No, no, no, no. Binkys are bad for the development of teeth and can contribute to ear infections. Whatever you do, don't give it back.

Say no. Why? because you are too old. Ignore the behavior that will come after saying no. Just watch to make sure that you don't let the thumb become the substitute. If the binky is a huge issue. Then create a sticker/reward chart for a month. Let the child pick out something that he would like either to do, or receive for the big goal (don't include food in any reward system). The rules: Not asking for the binky. If he asks for his binky then he doesn't get a star that day. Each week could be a small award of extra book at bedtime, extra playtime, but not something boughten. Then at the end of the week, if all the days are stared then he gets to do that reward. At the end of the month if there is less than 6 days that were not stared, then he reached his monthly goal...and really doesn't need that binky.
I didn't get raised on a binky (I use them for my children now and they disappear at the latest 20 mos) and are never heard or seen from again.

Let him scream and cry. Just don't give it back. Don't bribe him and tell him you gave it to babies who need Binky's but since he's such a big boy he doesn't need it. Don't give in!!

This guy I know told me that his mother told him that a rat ate his bottle and he believed her.
It wasn't until years later that he found out the truth and he thought it funny.
Please do not use this for your answer.
I thought it might make a funny anecdote.
Sorry I didn't get to finish my answer, but I had things to do.
I didn't mean to appear insensitive.
You could say that you donated it to charity for a needy child.

What made him ask for it??? Do you have a new baby and he sees baby using one and thinks it will get him more attention? I would say no and see if you can find something else that might interest him.

Definitely say no. Tell him that he is too old for that and that babies only suck on those. I would throw them all away too. That why if your feeling bad you can give in to him. I know its hard but be strong! :-)

Say no, stay firm, offer a bribe. Otherwise, you will be stuck with it for life. If you are still having this problem in December, have him leave them out for Santa...
