Please call Animal Control and the Humane Society. They will take the dog away and it will be safe.
If she's living on the streets they will take the dog away for that alone. She has to be able to provide a safe environment for a dog and she's not doing that. You can call anonomously if you want.

if she is wise enough to not turn to drug traffiking or prostitution because of the consiquences, then remind her that dog fighting is a FELONY now, that law was just passed like last week.
Dogs can be expensive to keep, and if she is living on the streets, i doubt she can afford to feed and pay for the vet bills to treat bite wounds her pit will recieve, even if it wins, they will get infected, and even if her pit turns out to be some magnificient fighter, it could die from the wounds. That is just the practical side, not to mention how horribly cruel it is to fight dogs like that.
Call the humaine society, if your town has a pit bull rescue, call them first! If you call the police, the dog will be put down, and she will be arrested for attempting to fight her dog. Most animal shelters(the pound) will kill the dog because it is a pit.
Call the rescue group, and then direct your friend to a home for young women where she can get back on her feet.
If she doesn't listen, you have to be a real friend and have her dog removed from her by animal control by force, as that is planned animal cruelty. It seems mean, reporting your friend like that, but it is what you have to do.

First of all it's wrong and if you are worried about the dog you should report it. she may have to give up her dog, but there are shelters she can stay at. They should be able to help her find ways of getting back on her feet. Second, pits can be vicious dogs. She better watch it doesn't turn on her. Especially if provoked by someone.
My bf cousin had a pit bull and it chewed her son's foot off while he was sleeping. Obviously she's not the greatest mother and it didn't hurt him because he has spina bifida and can't feel anythig from the waist down anyway. Although he was 4 yrs old when it happened and knows that his foot is missing. From what I know it was her bf dog and him and her oldest child were telling the dog to sick the little boy. I think she's still awaiting sentencing, but all her children have been taken away. The little boy and his younger brother went to be with their dad.

Tell her first priority is to get herself together, She may want to give up the dog so that she wouldn't have to worry about the cost to feed it.
She should be mindful that mostof the fighting dogs are verry well taken care of, sometimes even given steriods or growth hormones. Im sure the also have very square meals that she cant provide living on the streets....So if she really thinks her dog will stand a chance she should think again.
Beyond that mostof the people that fight their dogs are pretty shaddy, trust me she'll be in over her head. If the dogs is of any value they'll steal it (I live in Houston...happens all the time). Furthermore these things are not run by any code of ethics its very rough, they dont just let anyone in these rings...you have to put up money to get in. Beyond that it illegal and she will be sent to jail, which is not a great lifestyle either.
Tell her to give the dog up, take it to the shelter. While shes at the shelter ask if they are hiring.

Call the ASPCA and report it. It is illegal. Would you rather see her in jail or just have the dog taken away? She's obviously homeless because of bad decisions - prevent her from making more. Pits can be like a weapon. Don't let her use it. A trained fighter on the streets can also be very harmful to people. How would you feel if you knew about this and then the dog gets a child? It could easily kill.

Definitely call the humane society or something. Not only is it cruel, but it gives pit bulls a bad reputation and leads to further mistreatment. If she cares about her dog, she would never do that.
Tell her to go to an employment agency or something. If she thinks that prostitution and selling drugs are dangerous, she should also think about the dangers of turning her dog into a fighter.

Go to the animal control there and the police. More than just helping the dog you need to help your friend get off the streets. Help her find a job and a place to live. Take your next couple of days and go get her. Don't just send money that will cause problems.
Dog fights are illegal and if she trains it to fight and than has no where safe to keep it it may end up killing her too. Not a safe or legal idea.

Tell your friend that dog fighting is illegal as well as prostitution and drugs....And inform her that in some areas the people involved in dog fighting rings are more dangerous than she may think...People and dogs die as a result of these operations. Not only is it cruel and illegal, people train fighters from the time they are puppies more than likely her dog will not stand a chance in the ring.....Call Animal Control or the Humane Society or ASPCA....if she's that desperate she will probably do it, you should get the dog out of that situation. And advise your friend to go to the local Social Services office or homeless shelter for help in her situation as well.

That is inhumane, cruel and just plain stupid! People like her are the reason pit bulls get such a bad reputation. Negligent owners who don't properly train and treat pit bulls are the reason they are trying to pass breed specific legislation! If she can't treat the dog with love and respect than she should take the animal to a no-kill shelter and they will place it with a loving family that will give the dog a good life....This is an awful and ridiculous idea. Tell her to get a job and become a produtive member of society!

Ask your friend if she would like to go to jail????
This is against the law!!! Doesn't she care about her dog????
Tell her if nothing else you will call the police on her.
She will never know when one of the fights will be a set up that the police has done???
Sounds like she has a lot of problems.
Tell her there are jobs out there maybe not the kind she will like but there are some jobs.
She can always work at a fast food place. They are always needing help!!!!
Tell her to think of the dog. I would starve before I would do that to my dog!!!!!
There are places she can go to eat as well!! There are shelters she can stay at too!!!
Tell your friend she can go to jail for at least a year for endangering a life of a dog!!!!!

Call the local animal control on her, that is cruel. And chances are the dog will be killed and quickly and where is the money and morality in that. It makes no sense. Not all Pits make fighting dogs. Your friend needs some serious help.
