If you do this, and they damage their ears, they can go after you with a lawsuit for damage to their ears.
Simply get on the do not call telemarkers list. Google it.

Record Rosie O'Donnell or Martha Stewart scares them off every time.
Or just pick up the receiver and say nothing have complete silence.
Heavy breathing with the question what are wearing works too.
Talk about something that is completely unrelated to what htey are saying and keep on that subject.
If they ask for someone else tell them they are tied up and you don't want to let em go!!!
As far a device I only know of telezapper. a noise can be problematic

Ahh telemarketers.....i love them....because its like a prank phone call coming to you. When they call, i usually just fart in the phone and hang up, but if i am not busy i usually try to have fun with them.

Copy the sit.wav to your answering machine (before your personal message)
Copy it on your computer. Then play it using your PC speakers and record it on your answering machine.
It will help with the automated calls and it is free.

You can get a whistle at any sporting goods dept/store. That should do the trick. It worked for me.

y don't you just get you name on the "national do not call list"
seems to be free and nicer
