My advice is in two parts, one four you and one for your kids.
1st part: Same as everyone else, turn your land lord in and call the health department, move out as soon as possible.
2nd part: For your kids have them checked out for spore contamination, there could be mold growing the apartment walls where you don't see it. I live on a school dormitory, some people have the same problems as your kids. Also have them check for any of the diseases that mice can carry, I am not sure what they carry but you should find out everything you can about them. Another thing depending on how old the building is check for asbestos.

Turn your landlord in. If your apartment is not in standard living conditions he will have to put you into a hotel and pay for medical bills. Call a lawyer for a free consultation, you could get a pretty good settlement. Plus you will get your rent money back. I lived in a house that had mold, I ended up with all new furniture because the mold damaged my other furniture. Plus we stayed in a very nice hotel for about 3 weeks until our house was remodeled from top to bottom. You can get very sick from mice. In the meantime buy "dCON mice killer" Tell your kids not to touch it or touch the mice they find dead. Very poisonous. Your landlord is responsible for healthy living conditions. That's why you pay him rent. You will be compensated.

First, you should speak to your Landlord. As a renter this is not your responsibility! But as a parent it is! You do not want to wait on someone else when it comes to your children's health. Call an exterminator. Cover all holes--especially in kitchen--behind fridge! Spray peppermint oil all around apt. Mouse hate the smell. I have one of those electronic devices so at least they hide in cabinets and not in my face. But I have seen them as well. It is sad but it id expected in apt building :(
Try to see where the mice are coming from?? Front door? Windows? etc... Also cleaning will help and limiting where you eat as well. Helpful hint as well, they do like the smell of ammonia.

HELLO! This isn't good! Legally your landlord HAS to take care of this problem, he's probably responsible to pay the medical bills from your children as well, since he's ignored the problem. You can call the health department probably - file a complaint.

You need to get out. Even if they can get rid of the mice, you won't be rid of their fecies. Within the walls and in places that just can't be easily reached there is mouse poop and pee. There is mold that grows on it and in the sheet rock of the house that can kill a person. It is a major operation to get rid of the entire problem, and if you're just renting, landlord will find a reason to evict you if you narc on him to the authorities.
Get out while you can, then call your local housing authority

Report the problem to the health department and call an exterminator. The landlord will have to reimburse you.

Be very worried. Once you inhabit the property so will the mice. They need food to live and what better than your waste which they will soon sniff out and then go onto your stored foods once other sources are exhausted.

Sue his lousy backside and complain to the housing authority. I'm betting your kids aren't the only ones getting sick there.

Meanwhile, try to find somewhere else to live.

Good luck!
