Enamel is formed at birth and will not grow back once it is removed. Decay will set in because the softer and weaker inside of your tooth is now open for bacteria to feed on and live in. Get your tooth fixed immediately or you will lose it in the future and end up with a very expensive fake tooth.

This is strange.
Maybe if the chip is too big(reaching the dentin) you'd need dental work. But enamel can re-build a chip. If there's pain, go ahead and see a dentist.
Teeth are in a constant state of being worn down and built up(called re-mineralization - through minerals in the saliva). You can find this info in the sources below, and all over the net. With all the "No" answers here, I looked it up to see if I was missing something. I got a search result from yahoo answers - a dentist saying "yes it can".
But I know this first-hand. I chipped a tooth 5 years ago. A few months later, it was filled in.
It can, but doesn't always re-mineralize. You need to:
reduce junk food and refined food
brush often
eat more produce

No the enamel will never come back enamel cannot regenerate. A small chip can stay that way. Larger chips may require a filling to prevent sensitivity.

Sometimes. It depends on the age of the person - the younger they are the better the chances. But the tooth won't grow back there. It would need to be either removed, capped or chiseled down depending on where the break was.
