I prefer 1 week at a time so that I can buy smaller amt and they wont go bad. Occasionally I will go every two weeks, but even when I do that, I have to make trips in the middle. It will depend on how often you run out of things too. If you try to make it two weeks but you find yourself running out of impt foods (i.e. bread, milk, etc), you might want to start going every week. I personally live with my bf who eats a lot!!! Just feel it out, you wil figure out your routine.

Either way, 1 week or 2 weeks, you can still spend the same amt of money. give yourself a budget for 1 month and divide it by 4. Then depending on how often you go, you will know what to spend.

I buy shelf-stable items (uncooked rice, canned goods, household items) maybe once a month. I just go to a warehouse store with my list and buy all at once. It's a little expensive initially, but you save way more on the big packs of things.

I try to go to the regular grocery or farmer's market a couple of times a week so that I always have nice, fresh produce. It's never a full shopping trip; I just pop in on the way home and grab some salad greens or a tomato and some fruit. About every 10 days I'll actually buy other things like dairy and eggs.

Personally, I dont like to go once for every few weeks. Even though you don't have to worry and it might be cheaper to stock up on SOME things, go ahead and do that if you think it will save money, but then dont' rule out going back and stopping at the store occasionally so you have fresh meat, veggies, etc. When I had one apartment which was literally right around the corner from a supermarket, just a two minute walk I would stop basically every other day so I didn't have to worry about planning ahead too many things. Then on the weekend or my day off, I would go once every week or even every other week, and buy things that didn't go bad- paper products, canned goods, frozen foods, etc. even at the discount warehouse so you know you save money by buying in bulk!

Everyone has different schedules...I like the once a week thing so that I don't miss out on any good sales....but then again I know people that truly hate to shop they only go when there is nothing left in the house to eat

If you can afford to shop for 2 weeks, it would be best. Also, you would save time picking out your groceries. Also, make a list and try to stick to it. Impulse buying, even at the grocery store can wreck a budget.

I think the best is to shop a lil every now and then .... if u shop a lot in one trip u risk getting your closet full of stuff you will not like in the future :P at least that's how i do it :))))

it depends on what you are buying. perishables (fruits, veggies, diary, etc.) should be weekly. canned and frozen items can be bi-weekly to monthly depending upon your storage.
