For the Ministry Of Defence's desicion not to let Prince Harry serve in Iraq, was the right thing to do. You must realise that for the enemy he would be the number one target. He would have needed to have full time protection for this. Think of the publicity and propoganda that theinsurgents could gain from tHis death or abduction. Don't blame Harry, but blame the circumstances surrounding him as a Royal.

Harry not being sent was the correct decision ..If he had been deployed the uk death toll would have doubled .Killing harry would have been an amazing propoganda tool .By harry not deploying it has saved an awful lot of british soilders lives .
Any soilder refusing orders is a punishable offence harry did not refuse and is gutted .The decision was made by top brass and for the right reasons

As far as I am aware he didn't refuse, so no such precedent is set. He is being kept away from Iraq because he will be specifically targetted and a hit on Harry would be a major political victory for the insurgents.
The army top brass are free to choose whom they send and whom they don't send.

He did not refuse, and if the media stopped making a fuss he would probably go. Don't you have the temerity to say that somehow he is a coward. Get some time in and your knees brown before you talk about things above your head- dimwit.

Harry says he wants to go, but the army have said "no" OK so now his only option is to resign his post, and maybe in future the royals will consider different careers for their little boys and girls. I'm not saying Harry is scared to go and i can understand why he shouldn't go, but crying out loud, in times gone by evens Kings fought in battles, and died, what so different these days, after all our guys are getting killed every day, so whats changed ? I think we'd all respect him more if he went and was unlucky enough to get killed, at least we could all say "brave guy"

no they shouldnt when you join up you cant pick and choose where you are posted the army is a serious buisness from what i gather he is being prevented from joining his regiment the days of joining the army for easy postings are long gone harry should resign from the army any posting he gets now will be regarded as a token gesture it is not his fault it has been a operational decision

As far as I know there's no question of Harry refusing, in fact he wanted to go, but his superiors decided against it. I don't doubt that if he received orders to go, he would go.
If you're in the Services, you do what you're told.

If it has been decided, I hope Harry follows through and resigns, he's a very honorable person!

Think its a good thing that he is not going. Not that I'm concerned for his safety but he will be a target so other people will have to put their life at risk to protect him
