Romans 3:10 says "No one is good, not one, no one seeks after God"
And Ephesians 2:8 explains that Jesus only saves us by His grace, not our works, or good deeds so that nobody should boast.
So anyone can live their lives, doing good deeds, and being nice people, but without Jesus Christ, they will gain nothing in the end.
For God has a free gift of salvation only through HIM. So what must you do to receive this great salvation?
Romans 10:9
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Once you are saved in Christ Jesus it is His righteousness that is imputed to us-- through Him! So our good works are only because of our FAITH in Him! We want to do good for Him and please Him. There is a BIG difference between wordly good and Godly good. The only good in us is Jesus Christ living in us, before that nobody is good!

64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ can be understood as this.
Christ's sacrificial death and resurrection are the means to which we are saved. By grace through faith. And by our baptism for the forgiveness of sins. (Acts 2:38) That's where most Christians end it. We must, as Christians, follow Christ's commandment to "love one another as He has loved us", and to "love our neighbor". It's the fruit of the Spirit. James said that faith without works is dead (James 2:26), therefore, if we do not allow ourselves to be formed into the very image and likeness of our savior Jesus Christ we will be "thrown away and wither. . . . picked up and thrown into the fire." (John 15:6)
We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and baptism but the works wrought through this new faith must be evident.

No. We Christians do not get saved because we are better than others, or even good. With Christ we are better off than we used to be. All the good people do not go to heaven, all the forgiven people go to heaven.
We will be saved by the mercy and grace through the blood of our Savior when we ask Him to be our Lord and Savior. We would not make it by law. : )

I do recall a scripture that says faith without works is dead. Meaning it has no point. You can have all the faith in the world, but if you are leading a double life, it's not going to do anything for you either. Actions are necessary, too. It's not just about being "good" - but it's definitely necessary to be as good as you can.

The Bible says that our own righteousness's are like filthy rags. It is only when we are clothed with Jesus' righteousness, one which we could not buy ourselves, that we are good.
There was no other good enough
To pay the price of sin
He only could unlock the gate
Of Heaven and let us in.

Of ourselves there is nothing that is good or pleasing to God, but united in Christ all things work for good.

Well nobody is good. The ten commandments will get you to heaven, but only one person has gotten to heaven that way. (Jesus.) Since it is impossible for us to be completely good, Jesus sacraficed himself so that there would be an easier way for us to get to heaven. If we believe that He actually IS the way to get there, that's all you have to do!

Do you really believe it's all about being exposed to one mans human sacrifice and buying it?
At least "being good" makes some sort of sense. Believing in human sacrifice as a way to get us into heaven is immoral and unfair.

Just remember, you take this path, you spout this doctrine, then you must acknowledge that Gandhi is in hell. Just so you know.
