It doesn't really hurt but it is certainly noticeable. I've read that yawning and swallowing should help, but it hasnt. Anybody know what I can do, short of going to the doctor? I don't have insurance.....

I just had this exact same thing. What i did was get Claritin 24hr which will help dry out the fluid, and then i got mucinex d which helps with the draining of the fluid. both from the pharmacy over the counter. It takes a few days, but it'll work. Just be pacient, i was frustrated at first once i started bc it didn't work rite away, but after about 5 days of bein consistent with it, it started to noticebly improve.

Good Luck!!

Since you say their is no or little pain, I think you should just wait and see what happens. If you get 'significant pain' though, you should see a doctor ASAP. When you had your 'cold' your throat was probably 'inflamed' and felt 'sore' ... and even when we feel well again, the 'inflammation' doesn't go down completely ... and what has happed is that you have a bit of 'air' trapped in your inner ear canal (which has a small opening in your throat), which should 'clear up' or at least 'improve significantly' over the next few days. I'm sorry that you have this, but it's not at all 'unusual' ... I get it frequently, and so do two of my three sons, because we have a 'small twist' in both our 'inner ear canals' and our 'outer ear canals' ...

You have fluid that has built up behind your ear drum from having a cold. Sometimes you will get dizzy from this. Get over the counter allergy meds. Benedryl Allergy is good it should dry it up. If your ear starts hurting its infected and you WILL need to see a doctor. Good-Luck.

Your eustacian tubes are plugged up, likely infection from the cold, you mentioned. You will need antibiotic for infection to clear, the ear plugging will resolve on it's own, it can take even a couple weeks. Just had this one, and the echo you hear is real annoying! I tried everything, also, then went to the doc.

You may have some type of infection in your ear. The nasal passages are connected to your ear passages as well.
When you blow your nose, sometimes mucous gets in the ear passages was well.
Could be infection, could just be air. I wouldnt worry too much about it. If it doesnt clear up on its own in a few days then see your doctor.

get some afrin, it opens the canals from the nose to the ear, use it as directed only. Not longer than 3 days.
