Nah, you should not agree to the toast if you feel it's inappropriate or outrageous. That's just fueling the fire. Although the person's drunk if they don't get the attention they're seeking they'll simmer down and cool down.

That would be an ideal time to take a bathroom break (or a video for the relative's next intervention).
If it's funny raise your glass. If it's mean, pretend you're on your cell.
Lifting your glass in an articulated gesture is sufficient, overzealous clinking can get obnoxious.
Remember to tap your glass lightly with a spoon everytime the newlyweds try to take a bite of food and get them kissing it up!

You don't have to tap glasses, but raise the glass anyway and drink. Usually if you turn to the guest beside you for a clink, they'll do it and everyone else will start doing it. Regardless of what an a** the speaker was. It's just polite.

At a smaller table where everyone can reach each other,, it is traditional to clink glasses lightly. However if someone stands up to make a toast at a place where there are several tables then just raise your glass and drink.
Personally if someone makes an inappropriate toast (especially when he was drunk) I do not raise my glass to drink. It just encourages them.

I was about to tell you to go buy a toaster, plug it in, put the bread in the slot, push the button down & wait for it to pop up. LOL...........I feel that if you don't think the toast is appropriate then you should use your own discretion whether to toast or not. As far as klinking the glasses together I heard that is suppose to be good luck.

Phew!! I thought you were asking how you make toast, like cooked bread! Yes, I believe you are supposed to "glink" glasses but the gesture is alright as well.

you take bread and you put it in the toaster-you can also heat it in a pan
as far as drinking and weddings-that is an oximoron-why start a marriage with alchohol when you can start it with Jesus in first place
I have been asked to join with a great rabbi in a alcholic drink as a 'blessing' I refused =and then was asked if I would do it with water-and I agreed.
Jesus amazing grace that saved me =John 3 repent of sins and be born again, letting Jesus into your heart to be your best friend,
prayin for you and thanks, David
