Good question! Mainly because I AM a pizza delivery person. An "appropriate" tip used to be 1 or 2 bucks. With gas prices so high I would say 3 is a minimum, and 5 makes me very happy.

When I was snowed in and didn't have any food or water, a pizza delivery guy travelled through ice-covered streets and hiked up a hill of snow to bring me a pizza and a liter of soda. I tipped him $10 for that, so I guess it depends on how badly you need that pizza.

I think $2-$3 depending on how bad the weather is outside/how far they came. I live in Manhattan where we order in many nights a week, and when it's awful weather we tip more ($4-$5) because most delivery people walk or bike over.

$2-3 depending on how far they had to come from the pizza place. This goes for ANY delivery person, not just pizza.

TIPS - If you are very rich it may be 10 to 15% of the order value and if you are a middle class person 5 to 10 % of the order value with a minimum fixed amount. In America something near $3 should be alright -

I would say $3-$5.

Tipping the pizza delivery guy is like paying protection money. Lots of things can "happen" to your pizza between the store and your house.... you wouldn't want anything to happen to it, would you?

Being a big tipper makes you popular among the delivery personnel, and they are less likely to add any flavoring to your pie.

Keep in mind the cost of gas and that practically no one tips appropriately. I tip a minimum of 5$. It drives my wife nuts, but these guys really do put their life on the line to deliver pizza...what is $5?

this was just asked a few days ago.

If the bill is under $50, I think a $2 tip is fine. After that I would tip 10%.

The correct answer is 20%. 15% or even 10% will do. Round to an even dollar amount.
If you have a problem, nothing will do.
