Does anyone have a hangover cure for me that doesn't involve hair of the dog? And don't tell me not to drink so much- I realize that I shouldn't have, but there's really nothing I can do about what I did yesterday!

What did you drink? For if its red wine, it has histamines in it that often increase the feeling. WIne in general contains sulfites. For people who have a sulfite sensitivity, the sulfites can lead to serious headaches. White wines have more sulfites than red wines, so this can be a way to determine if sulfites might be the problem. Some thoughts is that cheap wine gives you more headaches than expensive wine. That may be due to cogener. A cogener is an impurity that is normally found in a lower quality wine, or in dark alcohols. Methanol is a known cogener. Also there is the fact that wine has a stronger alcohol content and that while a serving of wine is equal to a beer--a serving of wine isn't a glass full. So if you drank the same amount of liquid in wine you were consuming a lot more alchol than you would have in the same amount of liquid in beer.

Hangover cures--

there are lots of products on the market that supposedly help. I find things rich in acidity help a lot. Tomato juice or orange juice. However if you were drunk b/c you were drinking bloody marys or screwdrivers, you'll find that those will just make you sick.

A large part of the problem is hydration. I've found the best cure for hangovers is to drink 2 glasses of water before you start to drink, take a Benadryl and drink 2 glasses before you go to bed. In the morning, drink lots of fluids and take a vitamin of either B1 or C.

Often if you thrown up a lot during the night, your stomach is more upset about the churning up of HCL acid--take an antacid.

If you are drunk on beer you are on your own. I have no ideas for help of that. Hope these helped!!

Aspirin, some hot tea, a hot shower, and a good breakfast.

The Russians invented a 'hangover soup' that has pickle juice as a base (yes, really) and contains potatoes and other vegetables... I don't have the recipe but I have sometimes taken a swig of pickle juice along with a breakfast involving potatoes and protein, and felt much better.

I think it has to do with aligning your electrolytes. Also the sodium helps your body retain water and get re-hydrated, and the potatoes have potassium which helps your system balance.

I had one this morning. Nothing but time truly removes a hangover. If you drink a lot of water the night before it lessens the hangover. Also, stay away from drinks with a lot of carbs, the sugars really affect the intensity of the hangover-that's why I like Vodka (no carbs)

For future reference, here's what has helped me and I haven't had a hangover for 15 years

When drinking, try to stay away from sugar as much as possible. There's tons in mixes, so the less mixes you drink the better.

Always drink the same color liquor all night. You can mix light liquors like tequila and vodka drinks but not with dark liquors like whiskey and scotch or vise-versa

NEVER mix wine with anything

Drink as much water as you can while drinking. Drinking a lot of water the next day will help a hangover but drinking it while drinking will keep the hangover away

So in conclusion, drink lots of water, stay away from sugar and never mix colors of liquor

It's been a couple of years now, but I remember taking aspirin and drinking water while I went to the bathroom about 65 times an hour. Good times!

One of the main causes of hangover symptoms is dehydration. Drink lots of water, maybe some gatorade, eat well, and take as asprin for any headaches.

Most of the time you have a hang over is because you are dehydrated, Try drinking a lot of water the next day. Aspirin or Tylenol might help and sometimes just time and a lot of sleep.

Good Luck.

I don't drink - so my advice comes second hand from friends...

First: Alcohol dehydrates - it also physically causes your brain to shrink because of this dehydration... hence, the pain...

Get to rehydrating yourself... water is your friend today.

Ginger helps with nausea - so real ginger ale is good if you can't get ginger tea.

Peppermint tea also helps with the nausea.

Take 2 asperine and 2 Tylenol every 5-6 hours for the pain.

Be well dear one.
Peace.

What few times I needed it, a beer did it.
I know that sounds ironic, but yes.

My friends used to use red beer, which is a beer with a V8 poured in it.

I don't drink like that anymore, for as you know it is wrong.

But 2, maybe 3 with meal is ok.
