I had a Landscaping company about 5 years ago.
When we first started, we bought some magnetic signs for the truck and we made brochures to hand out and pens.
What we found out. Many of our customers chose us from the recommendations of existing customers and seeing our work around town. The Brochures and pens were a waste, well, people did use the pens, so, it not a total waste.
So, in short. I would choose a company from word of mouth. This will be the best source to knowing how well they do. They can say anything to get your business. But, the true mark, will come from actual customers.

Ask if you can go look at some of their other work nearby. ( front yards) or ask for references . Look up on your state license board to see if there have been any problems . You will learn if they have a license or not. See if they have estimates and paper work that is professional, not just verbal agreement.
