I think doctors sometimes prescribe it for patients with HIV, I guess it helps the patients cope with the disease, maybe it helps increase appetite like it does for people living with cancer. I think its legal if a person has a doctor's prescription. How it effects a t cell count or viral load, I do not know, but I would imagine if the effect were very negative doctors would not prescribe it.

When you have these bad sicknesses, you will do anything to find relief. If you had cancer and had that nasuating feeling all day. Or Aids when you cant eat because you have no apatite, pot can help wonders. Same, if you are getting or have glaucoma in the eyes they the doctors are using it as a cure now.So is it really all the bad? I don't think there is to much time to say after this, i have chronic pain not even Oxycontin works , and it sucks that the state of wis, wont legalize it. Ppl. can't be living a pain free life how ever months to years because the man of the hour says no, we suffer the rest of the days we have left in a chronic and all most unbearable pain.

I've known it to be prescribed for cancer pts going through chemo (helps relieve the effects of chemo); and also for glaucoma but not HIV. Call a free clinic that does HIV and ask them (tell them you aren't wishing them to condone it, just to know the effects if any)

I'm not sure how it affects that, but I do know that our dr. admitted that when my husband was having his heart attack, he said that what he smoked was helpful. Helped relax the heart muscles more and let him breathe a bit easier. (Husband's fine nowdays.)
