Its not good but Ialways have a foster or two that eat pencils. Puppies will eat anything. Most of the time I don't know till I find little shreds of the pencil hiding.

your dog will not be okay if he ate large pieces of the pencil which can really hurt his internal organs. On the other hand, if he chewed the pencil and lead, then he will be fine because the pieces are small and won't hurt him. the pencil wood and the graphite alone won't hurt the dog, just be sure he didn't ingest large shards of pencil, that is akin to eating a bone...which is also not good!

I have three children that are in school. No matter how many times I tell them to keep the pencils off of the floor I always find little pieces of pencil that my dog has left for me to clean up. Nothing has happened to the dogs as of yet. so yes I think pencils are bad for dogs if they eat a lot of them. Your dog will be fine. Good luck

not great but he will be fine. it's actually graphite that is used in lead pencils,
lead has not been used in pencils for quite some time now. don't worry your dog will be fine.

would you be ok? no.
take him to the energency vet NOW. a pencil, no matter how sharp or dull, can lodge itself in your dog's throat or intestines and perice the walls and cause ALOT of damage internally to your dog

Yes, pencil lead isn't actually lead, it's graphite. He won't get lead poisoning from it.
