I have a friend who believes that because I am Jewish and she is ‘loosely christian’ as she claims, that it’s okay to steal from my house and my kids.
She thinks its okay because I have ‘denied Jesus’ and so therefore I am evil and I need to be punished. But something tells me that if she believes the bible, she would know that even on Christian standards she is the one who is behaving badly. As I recall in the Christian story, Jesus said to obey the commandments, one of them being to NOT STEAL. It doesn’t say, ‘thou shalt not steal, except from the Jewish people’. Nor does it say ‘thou shalt not bear false witness, except when the person you’re lying about is Jewish’. Or even, ‘do unto others as you would have them do unto you, except those Jews.’ It says:
Thou shalt not steal. (That means ever and it means everybody.)
Thou shalt not bear false witness. (Period.)
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. (First stated in Leviticus and copied by Jesus.)
So I guess my christian former best friend is burning in hell later, right?

P.S. She isn't the first christian to do this rationalizing of bad behavior. And my little tantrum today is after puting up with it and saying almost nothing for nearly three years. Turn the other cheek, right?

That is not a friend.
Turn the other cheek is not permission to become a victim - it is an allegory for not responding to violence with violence. I feel it is loving to hold people accountable for their actions, as in "You stole from me, you are not welcome in my house, thank you for the gift of your friendship, Goodbye"
This leaves the door open for her to seek redemption and forgiveness if she finds it in her heart to do these things.

Definitely find new friends. As I learned, it doesn't take a certain religion to make a good person, or a deeply honest person. It takes the heart and honestly knowing the difference between people that pose as Christians, in my case (Catholics).
My conclusion is to only trust someone once. If they hurt, steal, or do me wrong, I will not have much to do with them.
But, being narrow minded will also make me as bad as they are. I trust the voice deep inside.

You will find that most people who say they are Christians are some of the worst hypocrites on the planet. They claim Jesus all day but act as if they have no ethics at all. I try and stay away from them as much as I can in my personal life.

Well, darlin - It sounds like she has forsaken the Messiah who has saved her. Since she's claiming to be a Christian, you can quote these verses to her:
1st Corinthians 5:9-11 (Paul writes:) In the letter that I wrote you I told you not to associate with immoral people. Now I did not mean pagans who are immoral or greedy or are thieves, or who worship idols. To avoid them you would have to get out of the world completely. What I meant was that you should not associate with a person WHO CALLS HIMSELF A BELIEVER but is immoral or greedy or worships idols or is a slanderer or a drunkard OR A THEIF. Don't even sit down to eat with such a person.
The attributes of a non Christian are:
Matthew 15:18-19 But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these are the things that make you ritually unclean. For from your heart come the evil ideas which lead you to kill, commit adultery, and do other immoral things; to rob, lie, and slander others.
Galations 5:19-21 People's desires make them give in to immoral ways, filthy thoughts, and shameful deeds. They worship idols, practice witchcraft, hate others, and are hard to get along with. People become jealous, angry, and selfish. They not only argue and cause trouble, but they are envious. They get drunk, carry on at wild parties, and do other evil things as well. I told you before, and I am telling you again: No one who does these things will share in the blessings of God's kingdom.
Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say, then? Should we continue to live in sin so that God's grace will increase? Certainly not! We have died to sin---how then can we go on living in it?
John 15:6 (Jesus said:) Those who do not remain in Me are thrown out like a branch and dry up; such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, where they are burned.
(Referring to Ezezekiel 15:6-8 Now this is what the Sovereign LORD is saying: "Just as a vine is taken from the forest and burned, so I will take the people who live in Jerusalem and will punish them. They have escaped one fire, but now fire will burn them up. When I punish them, you will know that I am the LORD. They have been unfaithful to me, and so I will make the country a wilderness." The Sovereign LORD has spoken. )
(Tell her to read all of Romans chapter 11 paying particular attention to verse 21.)
Now - I would ask this root of evil to be removed permenantly from your life.
Psalm 26:4 I do not keep company with worthless people; I have nothing to do with hypocrites.
Psalm 26:5 I hate the company of the evil and avoid the wicked.
Proverbs 13:21 Trouble follows sinners everywhere, but righteous people will be rewarded with good things.
As a Christian - she was supposed to:
Romans 14:16 Do not let what you regard as good get a bad name.
Darlin - I would pray that you not judge all Christians on those who do not practice their chosen faith - or who outright lie, like this child, who falsely claims to be a Christian - but by her fruit is known not to be.
Please, we who have truly accepted the Messiah, and have brought Him into our hearts - seek to bear the wittness of the fruits of His Holy Spirit. These are the attributes we struggle to have in our daily lives:
Galatians 5:22-23 But the Holy Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. There is no law against such things as these.
1st Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. Love never gives up; and its faith, hope, and patience never fail. Love is eternal.
We are all human - but what she has done in the name of Christ is despicable and the mark of a non-christian. I pray that our dear Lord give you REAL Christian friends in the future - so that you may see the difference between the real and the fake.
Say Good-bye. Forgive her in your heart - and FORGET her.
I pray you find peace, dear one.

To me, it sounds like this person has a serious mental defect. While you should pity her for her ignorance, you never ever have to bring her into your home.
