Isn't it interesting that so many atheists spend so much time in the Religion and Spirituality category with the intent to bebunk spiritual beliefs? Wouldn't you think that a true atheist wouldn't bother. Are these people mean-spirited or actually thirsting for information?

OK, so it's a typo. I obviously meant debunk.

I am neither a Christian nor a church goer, but I am a Spiritualist. And I'm shocked that so many answers are cynical, sarcastic, defensive, angry or insulting. What a sad, sad commentary.

Well if you think about it, It's because they are insecure in what they believe. If they didn't believe in God or Religion, They would stay away from it and everything that has too do with it.
However subconsciously they are insecure with their own belief's and search for the truth. Since Science cannot prove 100% without a doubt what really happened, The part of their nature too ask where they came from, Is unanswered, and some what like an open book.
So they search for it, Online, Possibly on Books. When the they, themselves aren't even aware of what they are doing.

You may want to spell check your work before dealing with atheists. They will catch things like that and you end up looking foolish. It undermines your question/argument.
As for your question, the Religion and Spirituality section is about questions and discussions about religion and spirituality. Sorry, that is the way it is. Your argument can be turned around to argue why do christians come to R&S if they are secure in their beliefs.
Also, don't forget that many religious people go out and post religious questions in non R&S categories. Gay and Lesbian section and the Math and Science sections are a couple where these questions get posted. If these people can go and do that then non-religious people can go and ask questions in R&S. Besides, I have learned many new things from questions and answers from the other atheists on here.

all of it comes right down to the expectancy of perfection. Christians are no longer to any extent further suitable than Atheist. We make blunders. If we've been suited extremely some human beings could rather convert to grow to be suited to. Perfection is fathom on earth. the concern is human beings get overly obsessed with spreading Christianity and circulate overboard. They style/ say even if pops into their head as a replace of asking The Holy Spirit for education on what to declare. You adult men can debate with us all you like and vice-versa. it particularly is an infinite conflict till Jesus returns or till we attain heaven. Our strikes could desire to show Christ, no longer inevitably our words. desire this help, And my apolpgies for previous, present, and destiny ignorant appearing Christians, Cora

A lot of atheists find the fact that people actually still believe in imaginary beings quite fascinating. So they naturally come here to discuss and debate it with those believers.
It is the nature of atheists to ask questions and seek knowledge.
I apologize for those who call themselves atheists merely to troll and generally act like jackass's. They most certainly do not represent the vast majority of actual atheists.

I used to call myself an atheist, but I'm not anymore. Some are probably seeking spiritual answers, trying to find a path of their own.

No, a true religious person would not bother. As the trend seems to be to indoctrinate young children at birth to not question. Atheists study religion and come to logical conclusions, and continue that pursuit throughout their lives.

This question is asked ten times a day, buddy. The search function is your friend.
See all those questions (such as this one) that begin "Atheists..."? Those are for us. People ask us questions.
Also, even though I think that religions aren't true, I'm still allowed to ask about them.
Questions and answers. That's what this place is here for.

Now now boys and girls.....why all the bad mouthing...give me the thumbs down and don't think about it...but the words you say do say a lot about you.....read you answers.....they accomplish nothing.....
And what is this hatred? What does that accomplish? Seems like a big waste of energy and thought to hold onto things like that. It was that kind of junk that gives us prejudice, racism, the KKK, etc.....

It's even stranger that so many of you church goers are concerned about non-believers.
Wouldn't you think that a true believer wouldn't care at all of what a non-believer thinks ?
I think believers are mean-spirited.
