Before they are mobile on their own, get down on your hands and knees and crawl around the room. If you can reach it at this level, they will soon be able to also...
Buy those little plastic covers for electrical outlets
Put any cleaning supplies in locked cupboards or on shelves that are out of their reach
Move any glass or fragile items to a higher level
Put baby gates up to keep them from falling down stairs
Put locks on any cupboards that you do not want them to get into
Make sure all medicines are stored in a high cupboard that they can't reach
Other items that you might need as they grow older are locks to keep toilet lids shut, locks for refrigerator doors, child proof covers to put on door handles to keep them out of certain rooms or in the house
You will actually have to go through this procedure again as they get even older as their curiosity will only grow and they will learn ways to be more creative. Hope this helps!

I am a mother of a 17 month old and have just realized that you can't fully baby proof your house. But there are ways to help with the dangers, get power socket covers, put meds and cleaners up high. Door nob covers cover the coners of anything sharp with edge padding. Use a play yard or get a gate or two. You def need a gate if you have stairs. Make sure the toys you purchase are safe and can't easily beak as many toys get recalled. Clean like crazy and then clean more. Early on this safety wont be as important as the babies start crawling and walking. But we started early too. Better safe than sorry. You can go to babies rus or walmart on the safety isle and there will be the things you need and you can look and see how your house is set up and compare the products. Thanks hope I helped.

I started by putting locks on all cabinet doors, putting the little plastic plugs in all electrical sockets , u can also buy covers for the whole outlet if they r in use! Place all breakables and harmful things out of reach and as they get older and r able to pull up and trying to turn door knobs i put plastic covers on them too so when u go to open doors u have to squeeze then twist, most adults still have a problem opening them...lol Hope this helps , alot of people think these things r not necessary but anything can happen in a split sec. so always but one step ahead!

Put plugs in all unused electric outlets. Make sure that all medicines and household cleaners are in locked cabinets. Keep floors clean at all times (babies will put everything in their mouths). If your house is older, make sure that there is no lead based paint or if you don't know if it is lead based then make sure there is no peeling paint that they could put in their mouth. You have plenty of time. The house doesn't have to be completely baby proof until the babies start crawling.

There are lots of things you can do... you can put those cupboard blockers inside so the baby can't open cupboards... also door knob handles and soft cover ends that go on coffee tables. If you are having trouble... you can also hire a service to come in and baby proof your home.
