areas around where the tooth is coming out. Is this common, or has anyone else seen something this? It doesn't look good.

Yes, that is normal. The back teeth are serrated instead of smooth and cause this tearing of her gums. Use some Oragel or Ambasol to help ease her pain.

This is very common. Sometimes the gum looks red and swollen and like it is splitting in several spots over the new tooth. Give her a freezie pop it helps with the discomfort of the gums and gives baby a treat as well.

My sons did the same thing it would look like hunks of gum was coming out and u know it has to hurt....it is normal and if pain is an issue just give tylenol or other , it gets better!

Try giving her frozen teething rings. Helps with the pain also.

keep a teething ring in the fridge and give it to her to help the pain, too!
