I beg to differ. I see more people "spewing venom" at Christians than at Atheists. For example I have an Aunt that is an Atheist and every time she comes over, she brings up religion...for whatever reason...be it because I chose to say a prayer before my meal or because I was listening to Christian music...for whatever reason, SHE brings it up and then attacks and attacks and attacks. She seeks out an arguement and that, in my humble opinion, is what a lot of the Atheists are doing here. Why else would they waste their time here in a R/S forum? I know why I am here, to learn more about my faith from other believers, and to ask members of other faiths about what they believe and why...what reason do Atheists...who do not believe in any form of God have for being here? Merely to provoke, to force people who are seeking God to doubt, and to try and force their opinion that there is no God on others. We get presecuted all the time for our beliefs. We have to defend them every day...and that isn't just Christians, that is people of all faith. Atheist attack our traditions, our legacy...is saying Merry Christmas really that big of a deal? If it is couldn't we say Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah? No, that wouldn't be good enough...even though the reason we have those Holidays in the first place are because of those two religious groups; the Christians and Jews. Are Nativity Sets really that offensive? Since you think it is a Fairy Tale anyway...do you get angry when you see pictures of the Little Mermaid and decorations of Beauty and the Beast on a wall or in a store? They're a Fairy Tale. No, you only attack us. Why? Because we choose to believe in something that you consider a Fairy Tale and it drives you up a wall. You have even gone so far as to try and take things like "In God We Trust" and "One Nation Under GOD" out of our country. Things that have been a part of our country from the beginning. You have no regard for tradition or legacy. You are the ones who are looking for a arguement, a fight, and a reason to spew venom.

8% of the population is atheist, The religious people have plenty of voice. And as for not getting attacked you should see the way we get treated at the university of texas in san antonio...The only atheist board we can post things on gets vandalized and god loves you and everything written on it all the time. Papers ripped off, we have no voice here. It's terrible because we enver touch the religious groups' boards...Just goes to show how respectful they are and how 'forgiving' they all really are.

Anyone can push their views door to door. Why don't gay people go door to door?
And you are right, religious people don't treat each other like they should, but wouldn't that make them irreligious;
James 1:26
26 If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless (NIV).
Ok not everyone who claims to be religious is religious, but that doesn't change the message; Jesus is the only way (John 14:6). So now even gay people can take this message door to door. Praise God!

The non-theists don't have a big enough club that is willing to stand up as a group yet. The "religious people" are a massive group and they tend to stick together when necessary.

It's called clerical fanaticism, and it is growing exponentially in this country. Not to fret. A new study has shown that eighteen percent of people under thirty describe themselves as aetheist or agnostic. Those are just the ones brave enough to admit it.

People who press their views on others in a rude manner are not showing you in the right way, but we do tell you our beliefs because that is what God commanded, you don't have to listen but most of us will tell you what we believe whether you like it or not, I am sorry that is just the way it is.

It's because they are right, and you are wrong.
Religious people actually do treat each other like that - if others make the mistake of not believing in exactly the same way.
Thousands of years of human history are filled with the resulting bloodshed.

Bit strong there.
Venom spewed...wow!
I do the door to door work you speak of, just look at the last two letters of my username.
Just trying to save your life. sport.
Letting you know what God's word is saying to you.
We are just the messenger.
Its up to you if you listen or not.
But once you are told, and then ignore it, we are no longer responsible..
On your head be it.
Example; If we saw smoke coming from your house and we failed to let you know, you could rightly hold us responsible for any damage.
We are simp[ly obeying Matthew 28; 19,20
