Is it too late to flle a police report at this point for a sitation that occured back in 2005 ..my wallet was stolen and it contained my soc sec card, department cards and bank cards als i didn't not understand the implications until i now that i'm being told be make some payments on one of the cards that was stolen with the wallet....PLEASE HELP ...credit bureau and creditor is asking for a ploice report ...CAN I STILL GET ONE AT THIS POINT

Yes. There is no statute of limitations on ID Theft.

No, it is not too late. The only problem, as with any crime, is that the further away from the actual crime you wait, the more the evidence dries up. In other words, it will be difficult for the police to do anything about it. That said, you should still be able to get a police report, but they may need some sort of evidence that it happened. Otherwise, anyone with credit problems could just claim they were robbed. If nothing else, it does not hurt to ask them! Good luck!

I believe you can always file a police report. You'll need to file where it occurred. When this happened to me at an airport, I assumed I'd have to do it in person, so waited until I passed through that airport again, about 4 months and they still accepted my report. You apparently have happened upon a bunch of patient thieves.

Sure you can.

Contact your local police department and fill out the required paperwork then you can send copies to your creditors.

By Federal law your maximum liability for a stolen credit card is $50.00, but you must file the required paperwork.
