when im working out at home or in the gym and i do crunches or sit ups my hip pops every time i go down sometimes it hurts sometimes it feels weird i have had this for a while but i dont know if i should go to the doctor or just do somthing else as my work out.

You definitely need to see an orthopedic doctor. This is not normal. water exercises are better on the joints.

I don't think it's normal but it may be something that eventually works itself out. Keep exercising but if this persists you may want to see a doctor. If this has been going on for a long time I would go see a doctor right away.

Try strengthening your hip flexor muscles. Or maybe your quads. Something is unusually weak in your hip area. Maybe change how you do your sit-ups. Don't lock your feet under heavy objects. Try full crunches, bringing your knees and elbows together. Maybe use an excercise ball.
