i was in the courthouse yesterday and an officer walks past with an inmate wearing a green jumpsuit. what are the meanings behind the jumpsuits? i remember watching some show a while back and it said the difference between all of them but i dont remember what they were and i wanna know what this guy did lol

In my state the green jumpsuit is used in the prison.. more then 1 yr sentence.
The orange is for county jail-less then one yr. sentence.

I am in NH and the green is for state prison...

The different colors pertain to classification of inmates. There are no set colors, each prison/jail may use their own. The jail in the town where i live uses dark blue for medium class, yellow for max. security and orange for inmate workers/minimum class.

Within my own department the different colored suits identify the different types of inmates.

Orange - Inmate (No outside activity)

Black and White - Inmate (work release program)

Blue - Federal Inmate

The jump suits mean many things... different colors tell the jail and courts if the inmates have been sentenced,awaiting sentencing.awaiting court hearings.and the risk factor of the imate.. Green is awaiting sentencing.... here in NH.

in texas there is only white and orange. white is for the regular inmate. orange tells others that this inmate is a security risk

They vary from jail to jail (or prison), but here they are in bright orange........
