When you drink a lot, it causes dehydration. No water in you system equals 5 to 15lbs. weight loss, and it can also be fatal.

No, all alcohol causes water retention and most are full of calories.

Perhaps he is DRINKING rather than eating.

Perhaps he drinks till he pukes.

Perhaps he has a higher metabolisim and it doesn't matter what he does.

But drinking is NOT a weight loss idea at all. Most alcohol is very high in calories.

Depends on what he is drinking!

Water? It means he isnt eating enough food, and may have some problems with bulimea or other disorders.

Consuming beer? He "will" gain weight, unless he isnt eating, or, he is exericing a huge amount to offset all the calories he is taking in, or has a very high metabolism to compensate for this.

Heavy drinking does not lead to weight loss, unless its water. Then there are other issues involved....

I wish you well...

Jesse

Generally speaking, drinking alcohol does not promote weight loss. In fact, there are more calories in alcohol per gram than most foods. However, if he is not eating as a result of drinking, and if he is purging, then he may be losing weight.

Drinking all the time causes weight gain (that's where the expression "beer belly" is from). Alcohol contains a lot of empty calories which would make him gain weight. Either he has a fast metabolism or he is into some drugs...

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

No, heavy drinking should cause you to gain weight. He must have a great metabolism. My ex's father was like this, hearty eater and drank like a fish. He was super thin, never exercised, but eventually he really started to look old. And, just passed away in his mid-60's.

Now I've known people who drink like fish, eat regular and still lose weight, but these people are also partaking in illegal drug use.

It's possible to lose weight if you drink alot and that's all you do. Unfortunately, most of the weight loss will be from the catabolization of muscle and hence your friend will look lanky and weak.
