It's not that I'm thirsty... it's a thing I do when I have to sit in front of a computer all day at work, or talking with someone.

You may want to get checked for diabetes, just in case (although you say you aren't really thirsty). Otherwise, as long as you're drinking something healthy, like water or green (or herbal) tea, go for it. It's good for you.

My wife carries a big blue mug around with her everywhere she goes filled with gingerale. She has to have something to drink all the time. I saw this question and was interested because she's the only person I've ever seen do this.She has been checked for diabetes since excessive thirst can be a symptom but it came back negative thank goodness. Just thought I'd let you know that you are not the only one who does this. Have a good day.

you could have some type of deficiency or you are bored! keep drinking water or green tea, its good for you, and much better than soda

Even though you don't feel thirsty, you could be dehydrated.

Oral fixation, you wern't breast-fed enough as a baby. Either that or alcoholism
