it depents on your body fat percentage
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Well, from my experience, I lost 38 lbs in the first month when I went on Atkins. I did not eat pasta, bread, grains or nuts for that whole month and the weight came off. I exercised 4 times a week. This included walking 4 miles 2 days a week and doing cardio aerobics the other 2 days. This is an unusual experience and to be honest even though it helped me reach my goal, I don't believe Atkins is long term. This was very rapid weight loss and I tweaked the diet after that by incorporating whole grains and wheat back into my eating habits. It took me a little over a year but I lost about 130lbs and have kept it off for over 3 years. But with any diet, you need to limit your caloric intake and exercise. And getting plenty of water is essential. I agree with the above poster about losing a healthy 2 lbs per week. That is better for the body and what I did to lose the rest of my weight after that initial 38 lb. loss. Hope this helps.

There is a exercise DVD called Hip Hop abs. I want to buy it, but then again I tell my self why when all I have to do is get out and go dancing. I believe this is the best and fastest way to lose the weight. It will diffently be more entertaining than all the others' out there. When dancing you ARE moving and using every muscle in your body, so if you do this you will not have to be so careful on what you eat. Of course you still want to eat healthy, but you can eat more of what you like and not worry about having to eat the diet foods you don't. So my suggestion is go out dancing. Have fun while losing weight at the same time.

I agree with woodwork. losing weight should be a slow and steady process. If you eat a healthy diet and get "regular" exercise, it will drop off at a rate that you will be very pleased with. Ofcourse every body has peaks and plateaus. Don't get frustrated during those times, stick with it. I lost 35lbs in about 6 months and hit a plateau. I stuck with it and a few weeks later, I started losing again. It's been a year now and a total of 50lbs. The main thing is "DONT GET DISCOURAGED"!!! You can do it!!! It's not a diet it's a new life!!!!!

Consider you should "safely" lose two pounds a week, so at the end of 17.5 weeks, you should lose your 35 pounds!

Anything sooner would be foolish and down right dangerous!

I wish you well...
