I wrote an answer and found immediately a thumbs down to it. It is impossible to have read my answer so quickly. Then after reading through many answers discovered all thumbs up ratings were given to people who think Global Warming is a Myth and not true, while people who say it is a problem are given the thumbs down. What is this? I have lost confidence in the real legitimacy of this forum. It is a put on.... You know where you can put this forum.. Answers....right up your Yahoo.

Despite any assurances to the contrary from Yahoo, I suspect that some oil and coal interests (or their unwitting tools) have set up robot browsers to detect certain key phrases and automatically signal approval.

The sheer volume of denialist activity on this forum is staggering, considering the widespread public awareness of the issue (at least, outside the US) and acceptance of the scientific consensus. It is also highly prevelant on any other open forum, and indicates, to me, that a concerted effort is being made to create a false 'grass roots' movement to slow down and frustrate any political action.

I have also found this to be true. I just posted a response to a question, it is a very long response and yet no more than a minute after I had posted it the thumbs down started flowing in (i took the position that global warming is a myth). That's why I never give thumbs up or down to anybody.

Some people will see the title and just give what you wrote a thumbs down or up with out reading all of the question.

content validity means research. If your content contains scientific validity I will leave a thumbs up, that said, the validity of the Global Warming religion lacks content validity. It is based on supposition and hypothetical models.. Climate scientists have difficulty predicting weather from one day to the next, let alone for a year, decade or century. The reason is that everything changes.

The eco-marxist religion is clearly agenda driven. It lacks scientific validity. It is a "belief" not fact.

One fact they have correct, the earth's mean temperature has risen 7/10s of 1 degree over the last hundred years. That is the end of their factual evidence.

There is no evidence it is human caused.

Here are two websites that contain a large compendium of valid scientific climate information.

Any time the word "BELIEF or BELIEVE" enters the conversation think "RELIGION". It is cult of epic proportion. The only way to deprogram yourself or others is with facts and understanding.

I am a lifelong student. when I first heard of "Global Warming" I recall in my environmental studies in college the "prevailing" wind was around a new Ice Age.

With certainty climate changes, and has been doing so for 4.6 billion years. Sometimes quickly sometime slowly.

Man is inherently narcissistic and our cultural shapers have found ways to manipulate this for the purpose of gaining power.

The validity of IPCC report fails based on inadequate peer review, Most of the supposed 2500 scientists involved are saying the content of the report is NOT what they recommended of even wrote.

What we can do about it? nothing. Don't believe it. Use your common sense. If there is money involved, someone's pocket will be lined.

Al Gore's is definitely one of the primary pocket liners of the ecomarxist religion.

Anyone who has answered a certain # of questions and gotten enough points can vote and give a thumbs up or down. This is supposed to give you a heads up on how good the article is so you can scan if you are in a hurry. You are correct that the global warming "nay sayers" don't care about understanding the science, they just want their political opinion to be correct. This is why you got a thumbs down, because of an idiot that doesn't care about understanding global warming enough to even read your answer.

Don't let that one experience upset you. I have gotten them too from people who obviously care less about science than their own political agenda. People like that person and others will come around soon enough to see the truth. Thanks for contributing!

Climate change is natural.....it's been going on for years.

The only opinion I have is to recycle as much as possible and quit littering.

The Inconvenient Truth is the third-highest-grossing documentary in the United States to date.
The film's distributor, Paramount Classics, is donating 5% of the box office receipts and Gore is donating all of his proceeds from the film to The Alliance for Climate Protection (of which Gore is both founder and chairman).

If it was such a sucessful documentary, why is Paramont donating ONLY 5% ? And Gore is putting 100% to a company he is chairman............sounds odd to me.

Global warming is a fairy tale . Geez ... if two volcanoes blew their stacks a day or two apart , we would have more problems than if we could burn all the existing oil overnight . The condition "nuclear winter" could happen overnight . That is a much more probable scenario than this global warming tripe that is being marched around by those radical liberal bleeding hearts .

I am a nay sayer, so when you show me "science" and not maybe, possible, or could be, I may join you. But, being a college grad I have the sense to look at earth's history and see climate change happens with or without mankind. Now unless the dinos drove suv and had coal plants et al, your CO2 mankind argument is patently false at best or an out and out lie at worst. IMHO I think it is just one more trick to make the whole world go to the thrid world level so limo libs can take over the world.

Why don't you grow up and stop buying into the stuff that pop-culture stuffs down your throat. While I'm all for less polution, the whole global warming thing is nothing but a money making scheme that is designed to make the rich (gore) richer and to make you feel good about riding a bicycle while the people that preach this stuff to you, ride around in private jets and suv caravans.

Readers are rating the answers, not yahoo itself. The forum isn't very legitimate, but it does allow people to voice their opinions. I think an open dialogue is necessary, but a lot of people only want open dialogues of their views.
