A Jew who practices his religion is not automatically "orthodox". There are many aspects in that.
Orthodox in this case would refer to the fact that the person follows the teachings of the Bible and the Torah as closely as he possibly can.
One big difference between an Orthodox Jew, a devout Christian and an Islamic fundamentalist is that only the fundamentalist has no qualms about blowing someone up in the name of his religion.

No being a practisng Jew doesnt make you an orthodox Jew. im not Jewish so i dont understand the difference but i think Orthodox Jews are stricter than other groups.
Mnay Christians are labelled as fundamentalists, look around this site you'll see a lot more Christians being called fundamentalists than 'devout'
And why is being called a fundamentalist an insult anyway??

Orthodox Jew is a Sect... Fundamentalist is a Christian Sect/Idea... They're all "devout" till they take it too far and then it turns into Zealot, Fundie (not the same as the Christian Sect) or Fanatic.

Your question invalidates itself immediately by the assumption that when a jew practices his/her religion he/she is called "orthodox". There are many branches to Judaism. Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, Reconstructionist.
I've not heard these terms you use as common belief by anyone.
This question seems to be designed to provoke others to anger.

Not true.
Some Jews who adhere to their religion are called Hasidim, and even some reform and conservative Jews think they are practicing their religion, yet they do not refer to themselves as Orthodox. Orthodoxy is only one branch of Judaism.

i will comprehend your confusion. the situation is that Jews tend to have different comments in this rely - there is not any straight forward, promptly answer to your questions. All i will do is supply you my attitude. I view the Jews as a rustic/community of persons. you're immediately considered Jewish in case you're born to a mom who's already an ingredient of the Jewish human beings or, you may connect our usa by using conversion (in spite of the place interior the international you're from). Judaism is the assumption gadget of the Jewish human beings. Is Judaism quite additionally a lifestyle? in case you're defining lifestyle as a lifestyle, then in keeping with probability that's. As a Jew, Judaism informs and shapes all aspects of my existence. besides the actuality that, Jews are uncovered to a lifestyle it quite is self sustaining of Judaism besides - that's why we've different forms of nutrients, dance, making a song, etc. Is there one among these ingredient as being a million/2-Jewish? some will say definite, some will say no. Edit: you besides could asked if a Jew could properly be a Christian. the situation of "Messianic Judaism" is exciting. i in my view have faith that a Jew shouldn't prepare Christianity or the different faith different than for Judaism. some Jews argue which you give up to grow to be a Jew once you prepare yet another faith. i quite disagree with them. interior the Torah, assorted situations, the Jewish human beings stray to different religions, yet G-d nonetheless perspectives them as His human beings and needs them to return to Him. as quickly as you're an ingredient of the Jewish human beings, i do no longer think of you may ever give up being a Jew in G-d's eyes...yet that does no longer advise you may desire to prepare any faith you have chose to.
