i have prayed once. i remember it well, i sat on my fathers bed and cried as i prayed for god to make him better, my father was a very strong man yet cancer ate him away and he became an invalid, i nursed him, watched him cry out in pain as i helped him to dress and wash and eat and sit up in bed, then i sat and watched him die, i was helpless, god never helped us,

I don't believe in any gods. Partly for some of similarly reasons you've mentioned. What kind of god allows such suffering in the world? Surely not one worthy of any time of praise or worship.
Also, the concept is wholly illogical and irrational; there's no evidence for the existence of gods.

This is no reason to abandon your faith in God. When the time comes to go we all have to go. Otherwise, you could pray for immortality. There have to be limits in order for the world to continue functioning
I can tell you a similar story of when my mother had a major hemmorragic stroke which left her completely paralysed on the left side.
Like yourself I prayed. I prayed with all I had. I felt it was all I could do.
She came out of her coma after two weeks. Three months later, the physios who examined her told me they believed she would recover and be able to walk again.
It took time, but within two years, she recovered to such a degree that we were going for walks together in the Lake district. I even toook her to perform Hajj (which is a requirement for muslims to do at least once in their lifetime) to pray our thanks. This is not an easy task even for the fit and healthy.
So there are just as many stories of miracles occurring. -Of prayers being answered.

You must begin by praying. Jesus is always wants us to turn to him. That's why he done what he done, so he could be there for us.
Just find your self a quiet place alone and ask Jesus to reveal himself to your heart. He loves you and is wanting you to turn to him.
Except you receive the Lord as a child you can not enter therein. This does not mean for you to be childish, but rather as a child would come to his or her parent for help we must come to Jesus.
Get yourself a Holy Bible ( I prefer the King James Version) and read it. You can read any where. The book of Psalms is a great place to read. Proverbs is also great and the New Testament is very good. I love the entire Bible but these will be helpful if you are truly looking for answers.
When we go through these trails and tribulations we especially need to turn to Jesus.
All I ask, I am speaking for the Lord, is that you put Jesus to the test if you are wanting help.

Well I think the last time I counted them all together praying was about the same amount as the time before that and it is almost the same as the time when I counted them the time before that and that I can now say it is roughly about the same amount as the time I counted them when they were praying at different times so I would say it is the same as the time before that I guess. Oh this was a random sample poll U-know.

The important thing is that the number is diminishing in all the right places.
As to the solution to your problems - sometimes there just isn't one. The universe doesn't owe us a happy life, alas.
If you succumb to the blandishments and comforts of religion you lose your ability to think clearly. As a cure, it's like fixing your headache with decapitation.

Trust me, a website is not the place to do this. almost 90 some odd percent of the Country has a religion.
It is a major subject. Choose what you want to believe. If you don't believe in God, You will either find him later in life or not and die. It's your choice.
You weren't brought in this life to do anything but eventually die. It's your choice to choose where you feel you go or not go.

Perhaps people should have said to you "seek God" rather than "turn to God".
Don't look to religion, look to God's word ... religion can make you crazy, God will make you sane.
Prayer isn't about asking for stuff, it's about trying to hear from God too ... it's a conversation, not a to-do list for God.

Everyone believes there is something greater than them that created everything; not everyone acknowledges the force of life as a personified entity. If you think that the highest order of life is you, you have been sorely misled.

I believe, I also believe prayer works, and God wants us to ask things of him, and also give him praise and glory. I pray one day you will believe.
