No, your wife is incorrect. First of all the original autographs of the Bible are without error. While all translations have some slight margin of error the basic truths that God wants mankind to know have been preserved. The facts that all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory but that because of his love for us He sent his one and only son Jesus to pay our sin debt and that through faith in the sacrifice that God has provided a person can be saved for all eternity are clear enough.
Secondly you might want to ask your wife where men would be if it were not for women? Answer: still in the Garden of Eden :o)
