Many Christians believe that since God gave mankind free will, that everyone has the right to practice what ever faith they want, or don't want.
What bothers me are those people and religions that don't believe this way. Sadly I know Christians that are like that as well.
I don't care what faith anyone is here on earth, everyone seeks God in their own way.. my only hope for everyone is that they seek and receive true salvation so that we may all be of the 'one true church' that is not an earthly church, that is Gods church.
If more people worried about that there would be a lot less fighting among religions...

No, I don't think you need to agree with everything that a given religion teaches in order to have respect for it...I think you can see what works and what does not; so you take what does work, and adopt it; the rest you leave.
This is what metaphysics does...it takes the best of all faiths, and works for our universal recognition of the unity of all.
I think your presence here is a blessing...

I think that there is a difference between respecting people who hold different beliefs and respecting a false religious system that damns people's souls to Hell. If you make the distinction between respecting people who are created in God's image whom He loves and wants to save that's one thing.
If you say "Well, they worship the same God that I do and maybe they have some wrong doctrines that I disagree with but I still respect their religion" then you are falling in with the ranks of compromisers who don't have the courage and backbone to stand up for the truth of Jesus who said that He was the way the truth and the life and that no one could come to the Father apart from Him.

According to the following definition I would say that one would have to “agree with someones faith and all that it teaches in order to respect it.”
Respect; esteem- a feeling or attitude of admiration and deference toward somebody or something; the state of being admired-the state of being admired deferentially.
For the above reasons a Christian cannot “respect” another religion. Other religions may be tolerated; if by tolerance one ascribes to the American Heritage Dictionary’s definition of what it means to tolerate: “To allow without prohibiting or opposing; permit”. It simply means that if you have a neighbor who adheres to a belief system other than your own you are supposed to live at peace with him, not prohibiting or oppressing him. In that regard I can tolerate different beliefs.
But in reality, that is not what typical postmodernist mean when they cry for “tolerance” and “respect.” They are not asking people to simply tolerate and get along with the opposing belief.
The fact is that they are asking people to compromise their beliefs. They are asking me to concede that my neighbor’s beliefs are just as true (relative truth) as mine, to forfeit my notion of objectivity, and to surrender my view of elitism. As a Christian I cannot and will not.

Respecting anything does not require that you agree with it; it just means that you're not attacking or trashing it.
It's a shame that anyone's belief system has to - by their definition - exclude or invalidate all others.

I have always respected all religons and it does not affect how I practice my own. Some people just cannot tolerate or accept anything outside of their own beliefs, and that is truly sad.

I agree with you. I do not want you to agree with all the principles that I believe in, but someone like you restores my faith and trust in the natural goodness of people.

No. Because there is no compulsion in religion, one shouldn't disrespect another person's belief system. In the Qur'an, we are commanded not to disrespect another's religion, because that person might say something against Allah (SWT) they have no business saying.
