...insist on trying to "refute" my points by quoting the bible?

I opened my email today and had three of these emails from christians quoting various passages which pretty much condemned me to hell.

As a rule, if I know that the person I am debating or trying to convince of my point does not acknowledge one of my sources, I don't use that source as the basis for a discussion.

For example, I am not going to quote the Qur'an when trying to argue with a christian because they do not believe in the "divinity" of that book.

So why do some christians feel that this will work on me?

And before you go and answer this with some "Oh you were never really a christian" or "you poor, poor soul", that won't work either. I know too much to ever blindly follow any monotheist faith ever again.

Some Christians do that because to us, the Bible is a more important source than ANY other book out there. It is the basis to our faith, you know that. Some of us do get a little carried away though, sorry about that. I'm glad that you specified that only SOME Christians do that. Many of us try to use other sources.

I would NEVER come right out and say that you were never a Christian. You might have been. I believe a person can be a Christian, yet wind up becoming an atheist, just as I believe an atheist can wind up converting to Christianity. This former atheist did.

I don't know...

Mostly if someone whish you something bad it is because he is not sure about his own belief and he has no answer on your question. Than it is easy to quote a book like the bibble. But the bibble doesn't prove anything. It is only a valuble book for those who believe in it. For other people it is just the same as a book with storries about Harry Potter,....

But I know one thing for sure. I somen one whish you go to hell, he creates a hell for himself in the futur. And is someone realy wish you happiness, he will become also happier.

What you are seeing is the insecurities of the "pseudo" Christians..the REAL Christian will of course debate with you but never leave you feeling less than you are for your beliefs...The "born again" the Jehovah Witness, the fundamentalist et al are what give the real Christian a bad name...I stood beside a Muslim man in Marble Arch in London and watched, I took part but was sadly lacking in the biblical and Qur'an, as he debated a very large group of Born Again Christians who eventually left the scene crying and the man blessed them for their devotion as they walked away.

These Christians using the scripture to convince you are not spreading the word as God instructed through the Apostle Paul:

19 For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. 20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; 21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. 22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. 23 And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

Of Course, I expect you not to use this passage against anyone who witnesses the Bible to you since you don't use that source as the basis for a discussion.

No one really understands how Christians work. Quoting the bible is something that they feel they need to do to look like they have a mind of their own. It's really like trying to argue with a bull, you'll get the horns every time. Next time you get an email from them, press delete. You'd be doing yourself a favour.

The bible is the christian's guide, walking stick, light, truth, weapon and knowledge.....

To expect an answer from a believer without scriptures is like expecting a doctor's treatment without use of his equipments or medicines....

For one thing I do NOT ARGUE with anyone about Christ. IF they ask and want to talk about Him I will tell them what He has done for ME Personally, and I will use the Scriptures to SHOW THEM of His Love and Mercy, Grace, and what He has done for ME AND Everyone else. Saints, Sinners, Man, Woman, Boy, or Girl, He has done it for ALL. I Judge NO ONE and Only God is the Judge, BUT people seem to hate the Messenger, and NOT the ONE who WROTE the Message in the 1st Place.

It seems that you insist to reserve a seat in Hell, I don't agree to argue an arrogant and unwilling person on our Holy Bible.

Quote “Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces."

I think they get so excited and enthused by their own religion they close their mind to other ideas about religion/s. But thats true of virtually every monotheistic religion, they are so consumed by their own beliefs they are compelled to convert everyone around them.

I like it when they tell me I am going to hell. I think it is funny. You should just do the same. If they are just that brainwashed that they can't say anything on their own, then they really aren't worth your time.
