Let me tell you what happened on May 19, 1919.
Turkey has started an uprising against imperialism and colonialism. Under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal, the people of Turkey showed the world what ordinary people could do for independence, self determination, freedom! It was a revolution for survival. Western imperialists thought they could just break Turkey into small pieces and rule each part themselves.
They pushed Greece into this war and then they left, leaving the Greek Army in Anatolia under the command of some weak generals, to be destroyed by the Turkish Army. They left, after they got control of the petrol areas in Iraq. But they provoked Greece into an adventure which resulted in defeat and the imperialists achived something out of this. They created an enmity between two neighboring, friendly peoples: Greeks and Turks.
May 19th is the anniversary of people uprising against imperialism. Ataturk was the great genius organising the people he loved so much and believed in.
I bow in memories of those heroes and all those who died in that war (including young Greek soldiers who were 'sent' to die).
May there be no more wars

As far as I know it was a critical and crucial point to decide whether we should butcher the assailants or be butchered by them... We decided to butcher them. AND WE DID.
Non-existent gods helped us and we butchered them HA H A HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA H A HA HA HA HA HA

HA H A HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA H A HA HA HA HA HA
...
...
There were many assailants from all over the world...They were all so pathetic and so pitiable... They were all ridiculus in their vain attempts to fight with TURKS.....THE BEST WARRIORS OF THE WORLD....
The enemies were within... The enemies were without... The enemies were everywhere... They were too many to count. LIKE THE SAND ON A BEACH.... BUT WE MADE SANDBITCHES OUT OF THEM... AND WE ATE THEM ALL....
..
.h ha h ha hA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
That is why we have stomachache now....
According to Armenchick below we didnt butchered the French, the British and the Italians... We just genocided all the assailants.... HA HA HA HA....
The little Armenchick!! Can you explain the reason why, then, these nations do not claim that we genocided them? Are they idiots? ARE THEY IDIOTS? A BIG NOOOO.... So, think about it... Who is idiot?

Commemoration of Ataturk, Youth and Sports Day.
Mustafa Kemal lands in Samsun
to start the national liberation movement on May 19, 1919 .
The Ottoman Empire was defeated in World War I along with its allies. Many parts of Anatolia, including the capital, Istanbul, were occupied by the enemy. Realizing that it was impossible to liberate Istanbul, occupied as it was by the naval forces of foreign countries, Mustafa Kemal Pasha decided to move on to Anatolia. The ship, the ''Bandirma'' transported Ataturk and his entourage to Samsun, the best landing point on the Black Sea coast under the circumstances, and they landed there on 19 May 1919, after a five-day voyage. On the day Mustafa Kemal left for Samsun, Izmir was occupied by Greek forces and the Greeks began to invade Western Anatolia.
Atatürk dedicated 19 May, the first stage of the War of Independence, to the youth and ever since then, it has been celebrated as "Youth and Sports Day" wherever Turks reside.
