It is still possible to spread herpes from the mouth to the genital area and vice versa.
Since you didn't exactly say what kind of herpes you have (genital or oral), I'll just tell you about both.
If you both have cold sores and give each other oral sex you can spread the virus to the genital area. Genital herpes is usually caused by herpes simplex virus 2, but it can also be caused by herpes simplex virus 1 (which is usually cold sores).
And, if you both have genital herpes and you give each other oral sex it is possible for either of you to develop cold sores. Cold sores are usually caused by herpes simplex virus 1, but can also be caused by herpes simplex virus 2.
Also, just because a person isn't showing any signs or symptoms of herpes (like an outbreak), doesn't mean that you can't spread the virus. I gave my fiance genital herpes when we were first dating. I hadn't had an outbreak in 2 years at that time! The virus can still be spread even if there is no outbreak.

I got identified with herpes virus (type 2) about 5 yrs ago, whilst I was still attending college and had a stupid one-night stand. I realize a lot of people say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a massive mistake that one time and all of a sudden it seemed like I was going to have to live with the implications for my entire life. The worst part was feeling I could never date other men again. After all, who wants to go out with a girl who has sores around her "you know what" area? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/g3Vp3 everything improved.
Not only was I able to clear away all remnants of the hsv from my body in less than 3 weeks, but I was also able to begin dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so blessed to write that just last week, in front of everyone in a busy restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This program provided the chance to be happy and experience real love again. Now I want to help others too by sharing this story.

If you are both positive you really should use some form of barrier for oral sex. Valtrex is (I assume) being used for genital herpes (simplex 2) and that can migrate to become an oral infection given the opportunity. Don't let anyone tell you different.

As the commercial says "Even with treatment it is possible to spread the herpes virus to others." So just be careful. Try oral with a condom on the male and like... plastic wrap on the female (like in booty call). The pleasure may not be as intense but it is 10000 times better than a fatty herpes blister on or inside your mouth. Check with your doctor he/she should have some really good info for you.
