Doctor told me I had to get on Atkins for 6 wks to take off weight and get blood sugars down. It is week 3 and I only had one apple and one buscuit one time all other times basically this: I eat an egg and saussage for breakfast, cheese and lunch meat for lunch and dinner two veggies and more meat. I have snacked on dry roasted nuts and gained two lbs in one week. Lots of water and walk three times a wekk for 3 miles. What is happening? I do notice I have stopped craving sugar but blood sugar is too high still.

Eat the diet of your original ancestors.

Atkins is not a fad diet, it's a good scientific diet. (revised to add in more vegetable carbs) But it does not work well for certain people. You may fall into this small bracket.

It's called metabolic typing.

I am one who can not lose on Atkins. I was on the diet for about 3 months. My blood sugars were great and I turned the little stick deep purple when I urinated, but the weight did not come off. I lost 7 lbs the first two weeks and nothing more. At that time Duke Hospital was doing a study of the Atkins Diet. I called one of the doctors and spoke with him about it. He informed me that Atkins is NOT for everyone. I have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrone) and he advised me to get off the diet. However, I did not listen and my bowels shut down. My doctor started running tests on me looking for colon cancer or other cancers of the bowels. When he finally listened to me, the problem was fixed with fiber and a laxative. LOL true story.
I am now on the South Beach Diet. Much, much safer than Atkins and more healthy. Go to Ivillage. com and click on diets and the South Beach Diet. This is a free website that goes into details about how to do the program. They have free message boards also. Good luck.

Try eating meats with less fat in them. Sausage actually has a high fat content. So does Cheese. Try chicken or turkey breast or even a turkey sausage instead of a pork sausage.
