If that person did cheat which they is saying they didn't is it possible to get it other than having sexual intercourse. My pap smear was false positive and false negative they don't know for sure its mild they want me to have a biopsy to be certain if I do. If I do they said I could have it freezed which will remove it I had it six years ago and have it now Im married and he is telling me he did not cheat what do he take me for? I had two pap smear one the ending of feb and it was normal then the ending of march I had another one and in April thats when the result came back hpv. I dont trust him and once I have this biospy to know for sure if I have it or not I will go from there.

Will it cause your periods to be irregular?

It's really astounding the amount of misinformation on these boards. Yes, it's entirely possible for the virus to remain in your system for years, but that is not typically the case. I should clarify: doctors are unable to determine whether the virus is completely eradicated, or just reduced to undetectable levels, but either way, if you do not currently have a detectable infection, the chance of it being transmitted or causing any further health problems is close to zero.

The vast majority of cases do nothing, which is good, considering >70% of sexually active people will contract at least one form of the virus in their lives.

Furthermore (though I don't have a link, since they recently removed this study from their free content), the latest JAMA report on HPV prevalence suggests that about 45% of women between the ages of 20-29 are currently infected with the virus. In other words, statistically speaking, there's a good chance you have it. It's also usually nothing to worry about.

That said, obviously no one here can say for sure whether your partner cheated, but if you "don't trust him" as you put it, then perhaps it doesn't matter.

I have had iffy paps for the last 27 years. I had the Cryo done 25 years ago and a conal biopsy 18 years ago. Finally last year they tell me I have HPV. I have 4 healthy children. HPV is obtained through a skin to skin contact. Usually sexual in nature. It does not mean that your spouse cheated. You could have gotten the HPV before this spouse and your body is not able to fight it off naturally. Keep yourself clean, do not smoke or use illegal drugs. If you are not sleeping around you do not need to use a condom. HPV affects women cervically. Keep getting your paps.

HPV is a virus therefore it stays in your body forever. Warts are just the physical manifestation, so freezing the wart does not cure you of the disease. So you still have it and can pass it on

Nice use of the English language. If you "had it 6 years ago", then you still have it. The HPV is in your body forever.

HPV is an STD. Here are some facts- judge for yourself if you think your husband was cheating...but it looks like a good possibility.

If you've only slept with ONE guy in your entire life, then you got it from him.

If you've had sex with more than one guy, and he's had sex with more than one girl, then who the hell knows where you got it from.

HPV can stay dormant in your system for YEARS before you have any symptoms.
