Dress comfortably (jeans, t-shirts etc) and speak out for the environment and peace. When you do this people will call you a hippy - it happens to me all the time.

Being a hippy is more about the mindset than the actual actions and motions. You have to love nature and everything in it. Hippy's strive for peace and happiness. I'm just generalizing here but most hippys wear colorful tye dye clothes that are mostly loose fitting. All in all a natural look...such as a fluffy skirt or baggy pants. Natural hair is a must. No hair spray and lots of hair products because that stuff is bad for the environment. hope this helps =]

RE:
How to be a hippy?
I want to be a hippy. But, how do I go about doing so? Clothes, actions, language, etc.

Oh my gosh... I grew up a with a "hippie" single mama.. She rocks.. She sewed her clothes(my sister and I refused to wear what she made!) Shopped at thrift stores for just funky stuff she liked..
She would go to the Library and check out books on sewing hippie style.. She was an X punk rock grrl, so she wasn't to familiar with the Hippie style.
I would suggest you read... You don't have to be an "organic hippie" we were poor my mama was very thrifty, but so free spirited and we were also raised vegetarian.. My ma never had other Hippie friends.. She was 1 of a kind.. and still is..

Being hippy is being one with nature, loving everything about it, respecting it, by taking care of it. Don't litter. recycle everything you can. Clothing, is pretty much anything relaxed, flowing, stuff that looks worn out, sandals, are always a big plus. Using earth friendly materials such as hemp. Growing your own foods, w/o pesticides. Living off the earth. Being free, from worry, loving everyone. Fighting for what you believe in. whether the government thinks its right or wrong.

Look what happened to the hippies of the 60's and 70's. They're todays baby boomers.
Just be yourself. Love yourself, love others, care for the environment, volunteer, try to make the world a better place. Why do you need a label?

Clothes, music etc.. has nothing to do with being a hippie. It's a state of mind. The most important one being no human class, no one better then any one else. Then take care of the people and the world itself. REUSE RECYCLE. Fight for injustices. Think freely.

just be yourself, stand up for the alternative views you believe in. Live the alternative life you want to live....
Be eco friendly, care about your body and love life.
Dont try to be fake or be anything your not..
Just stay off the drugs coz they are what **** hippies up...
Especially stay away from the acid.
I know a lot of hippies and some of them are wrecks, mainly because of drugs and them trying to be something they are not, which actually causes them a lot of anxiety, social withdrawl and depression.

We were hippies in LA in the late sixties. You need to care about the Earth, eat organic produce, and stand up for what you believe in. Grass roots orginizations are the only ones that ever changed anything. Hippies lived in love and peace, not violence. The ones I knew never did drugs or drank. They raised children who cared about the world and loved and protected the outdoors, including all living things. Everything has a soul, even bugs. They have as much will to live as you do.
As far as dress, they believed that the natural way was best. Long hair, flowing skirts, natural jewelry. They tried to be kind to everyone, and when they weren't, they apologised. See, it's not just about the dress, but being a good person, and showing others the way. Spend as much time as you can outdoors in nature. Love and appreciate the land. We only have one planet, and we are all here together on this long trip together man!
