It is difficult to explain the cause of pain above the knee after the angiogram. The possibilities are:
1) There was internal bruising at the original site of access at the top of your leg which spread down towards the knee.
2) The nerve next to the artery in your leg is effected by swelling or injury during the procedure.

Either way you probably need an ultrasound of your leg at the site of the angiogram to make sure that the artery has sealed properly.

You should at least go back to talk to the doctor. Occasionally if the artery in your leg does not seal properly or forms an anuersym, it needs to be attended to quickly otherwise there is a very small risk of rupture.

If it is nerve damage, this usually improves slowly.

Don't get too worried, but please get it checked asap.

Regards

If a doctor told me he forgot to do something and was going back in, I would have serious second thoughts about letting him be the one to go back in. I would guess pain following an angiogram sounds like a blood clot, but I'm not a doctor.
