I'm not a doctor but I'm married to a man that takes blood pressure meds and has many friends that do also. From what I gather it is a pretty common thing. Talk to your doctor, he can offer help.

Oh honey!! This is a side affect and any one who tells you different is full of it. My man and I have been going to the doc for a year over this. We have been through every aspect of it all and yes there is always side affects. The sad thing is that the only thing they offer to help you is more drugs. We didnt want more drugs so we kept going back to the doctor and telling her that this was not working. Soooo long story short we have been through about 10 different blood pressure meds and finally found the one that works for him. I wont tell you the name because everyone is different and the meds affect them differently. The bottom line is that yes it is a side affect and no you are not alone.

Blood pressure medications can definetly affect erections. Think about the Viagra commercials, they say not to take nitrates (like nitroglycerin) because viagra lowers blood pressure as do nitrates. Many blood pressure medications have their effect by controlling the size of blood vessels. Getting and maintaining an erection is a task of controlling blood pressure by dialating/constricting the blood vessels in a very specific organ, the penis. The blood is essentially trapped in the corpus caverosum and corpus spongiosum of the penis through vasodilation/vasoconstriction. So when you have a medication that affects how the body as a whole can regulate blood pressure and vasodilation/constriction, it will affect ALL blood vessels including those of the penis, making intimate relations difficult.
Hope that helps, I tried to keep it simple and not too detailed, you are not crazy, blood pressure and erections are related.

Yeah, high blood pressure and the meds associated with them can do that. Mention it to your doctor and s/he'll likely give you a different med.
