Hi. Most toys now DO have LEDs. They are cheap, last longer, and use less power. Now if we could push the automakers for LED based headlights...

LED's take so little current, I bet you could make a yoyo with a free-spinning magnet in a coil of wire that would light up without batteries. You just need relative motion between the magnet and coil.
If you make a gigazillion dollars on this, remember I suggested it. It might make a good science project, too.
BTW, "white" LED's glow visibly (in a dark room) on microamps of current.

If an LED isn't already being used, it is probably due to its desired brightness. LEDs get expensive as they get brighter. They are more efficient over the long run, but the toy makers don't care about that. If it burns out, you have to buy a new one.

If the toys last longer, there would be less repeat sales...
If your toy breaks and you want a working one you buy another- and the toy manufacturers want to market you a new toy every so often- or sooner if the hype is good, so they are not ment to last forever...
It would be alot better if it was a toy ment to last quite some time...

Some of these light-up yo-yo's already have LED's in them. If you have one that doesn't buy some LED's the color you want. Then take the yo-yo apart, as carefully as possible take out the light bulb and install the LED in its place be careful about the positive and negative poles.

If that happens what happens to the profits battery makers are making? Its a matter of getting the best profit from whatever people will buy.

Not just that, why don't they make the damn thing rechargable? We can recharge our car, call phone, specific rechargable batteries. Why not a child toy that eats up so many batteries anyway??
