OK...
At the moment my favorite form of downloading is through bittorrent. There are many programs that download through bittorrent, my favorite is uTorrent:
First off you will need to download uTorrent
Download at: http://www.utorrent.com
and install it.
then go to one of the many sites hosting torrents
http://www.torrentspy.com is one of my favorite public ones.
Search for the file you want.
you will want one with a green bar under health in the search results.
You will also want one with a large number under "S" (short for Seeders: these are people who are uploading, generally the more seeders, the faster your download)
When you find it click Download Now.
and open this small file with uTorrent.
uTorrent will now connect and start downloading. Be sure to be fair and upload too.
Now, you'll also want to stay safe, so get PeerGuardian 2, in short, it prevents uTorrent from connecting to bad computers (including government and RIAA).

Google "warez or torrant sites" if you download limewire you can get some movies also.
