We don't understand many foreign cultures and our western culture seems strange to many outsiders also. Still to say that it's OK to putting a pooch on a hibachi because it's their custom is no different than saying that teaching a cannibal to eat with a knife and fork is progress

Hey, you stole my act! Until now I was the only one around here asking silly, slightly disingenuous questions in order to test people's limits.
If you said Vietnamese, I would agree that it is common to eat dogs. They are openly sold in the market. I heard that the dogs that they raise to eat used to be the pets of the French Colonialists and it is especially popular in the north. The Laos and the Thais have dog farms that only slaughter at night. The word they use for dog meat is the same word as beef ("nua"). Beef Cows don't do well in the tropics. Water Buffalo are too muscly and sinewy to chew easily and do not taste good. So when you order "nua" over there, you seldom get beef, usually you are eating dog 99% of the time.
True story: I lived in East San Diego home of a huge Vietnamese community. My roomate put her little black dog in the paper, and all of these older Vietnamese were calling and stopping by with the same plea- we want to love the dog, we take good care, etc. She challenged one couple, who admitted sheepishly that it was hard to find the delicacy in San Diego unless they drove up to LA and asked around alot. My friend was freaked out, but I told her that that's just the way it is in Saigon Markets, and you can't expect people to change their tastes overnight! I also told her that if she tried to scratch out a living in the infertile highlands of Laos for a month or two, she's probably be happy for some good red meat...
But nobody I know of eats cats. The Egyptians, Omanis, and most other Arabs consider them sacred. There are superstitions about cats there that pre-date Islam, usually that they contain the reincarnations of fishermen or some variation of this myth.

your cat ought to be a splash under pressure, maximum cats are very gentle to new ecosystem and easily new companions. I genuinely have a 9 year previous cat that substitute into those days extra around my roommates doggy, for a time my cat wasn't eating plenty, or ate very right now and merely as quickly as an afternoon, might cover decrease than the settee, not very social at the start yet ever simply by fact the doggy substitute into around we'd particularly see the cat all day. after a week or so she began eating greater, drowsing on beds, and at last began jogging as much as the doggy and now they're wrestling and eating at the same time. im guessing it would take everywhere from some days to a month to your cat to get thoroughly tender together with his/her companion. may be annoying for awhile yet quickly they must be prepared on eachother. in the experience that your cat nevertheless isn't eating, perhaps take it to the vet, may be a greater severe subject.

I think you have to be of that culture. A friend of mine is retired Air Force and she and another man she was stationed with were invited to a home in Thialand or the Middle East and the family was poor but invited them to dinner. They accepted well as a delicacy they prepared dog. My friend said it was very hard for her to eat (Her friend kept whisling the theme from "Lassie" lol ) But she said that honestly it was very greasy tasting. So it is your party and your choice, but get all the info you can on how to prepare it correctly. Good Luck!

In some countries, cat & dog are appropriate dishes.
However, not in the U.S. It would in fact, be considered illegal in some areas to eat cat or dog. It is simply not our culture to eat "pets."
However, if he lives in the Middle East, chances are he would appreciate something that meets Muslim or Jewish dietary laws - speak with a member of his community/faith for ideas.
You can't go wrong with vegetables!

Try Kitten it is better than cat! kittens are juicier and the meat comes off the bone better. Puppy is also great! The best way is to take a live puppy or kitten and put it in a large pickling jar filled to the top with Italian salad dressing. After the jar stops moving wait an hour and remove body and place on grill. Cook slowly until done.

Different cultures, different foods... so if you can find cat/dog meat you could do a nice barbecue to your friend.

many cultures have eaten dogs for thousands of years. native americans didn't have horses originally and used dogs as their beasts of burden as well as food when times were tough. koreans still eat dog quite frequently but I don't know how it tastes. I can't imagine cat being very good as wiry as their muscle tissue is.

If you can get over your western squeamishness, and realize that a lot of cultures dine on Fluffy and Fido, they're both okay.
Cat tastes like rabbit or squirrel
Dog is more like pork, but kinda stringy.
