Yes especially in the Winter, We get most of our fruits from Chile in the winter, If I see a product that say grown in Mexico I do not buy it. Too many cases of Salmonella from produce from Mexico, What about Bananas ? all Bananas are grown outside the USA

I try to buy from my local farmers markets. I am fortunate that I live in an area that has 4 different farmers markets throughout the week. My fruits and vegetables (and even eggs) are usually picked the morning that I buy them. It's exciting to see what fresh fruits and veggies grow around your area. I am also a member of a local organic farm co-op that you buy in at the beginning of the year and they deliver 1 basket of the seasonal fruits and veggies each week. It's an excellent deal!

I also own a vacuum sealer, so I freeze vegetables and fruits that are in season (and freeze well) and enjoy them later on.

YES! But actually, I won't buy anything from the USA, (and neither should you if possible!) for many reasons: you have very little organic fruit and veg, the carbon dioxide levels used in the transporting of it to the UK are high, and you have tons of GM food, and you don't even label it. Actually, by the way, Europe has safer standards for pesticide use (we use less, and grow more food organically( and crucially, genetically modified food is illegal here. We also don't put antibiotics and HGH (human growth hormones) in livestock, (to make them fatter and produce more milk) and that is another reason NOT to buy American! (they say HGH is one of the reasons so many Americans are fat and get cancers).

i am a part of a csa also- where i get to support a family farm and get the most nutrient rich food i can! one thing that frustrates me is that the usa sells pesticides that we have outlawed to other countries and then we import their food. crazy!!!
