At a track meet yesterday, my son and I were drinking from the same water bottle. Well, we had 2 bottles that looked identical and they got switched around by accident several times. Right after the meet, he told me his throat felt scratchy. Well, guess what? He's got strep. Is there anything at all I can do to stop myself from getting it too? Is it too late for me? Nooooooooo!!!!!

His strep test came back positive. I don't know if I made that very clear. He's got it. I do have some Amoxicillin that's about 4 months old in the cabinet. Would that maybe work? I know I shouldn't have it, but it's from a 3 week supply that I was supposed to take for an inner ear infection. Got tired of taking it after the first 10 days.....

No, wait! I am confusing things again! The doctor DID prescribe my son some penicillin. The amoxicillin I'm referring to is mine. I was not intending to give it to my son. I was thinking of taking it myself. Yike! I would never give my kids meds meant for an adult. Sorry. Should have made that clearer...

If you have not gotten strep throat by now, chances are you will not get it. Adults do get strep throat, but generally not that often. Our immune systems are more developed and protect us to a greater degree.

My son's step mom was a carrier. She wouldn't get strep throat, but he would come home and develop it one to two days later. I never caught his strep throat. Penicillin was the only thing that would cure it. He came down with strep throat five times in six months. When his dad and step mom moved away the strep throats stopped.

Echinacea, acidophilus and hydrogen peroxide do not prevent strep, but they may alleviate some of the symptoms.

You may not be able to stop it, but can make it shorter.
This always works for me. Buy those plastic lemon juice things from the produce department of you store. These work best because you can aim & squeeze in the back of your throat, tasting as little as possible. Just tilt you head back and squeeze some on the back of your throat and swollow. Do this a few times a day and more often if you feel your throat getting scratchy. The acid in the lemon juice will kill some of the bacteria. I do this every time I feel my throat getting irritated and it works.

Use an antibacterial mouth wash and also Hydrogen Peroxide as a mouth wash. two or three times a day.

Many years ago I got strep and this was prescribed by my dr.

Jump on it promptly before it gets worse.

If your son actually got strept sorethroat, then you can take amoxicillin 500mg thrice daily for 5 days to abort the infection but if it is viral sorethroat, the chances of which are very high then theres nothing you can do but to wait out the storm. yes, warm salt water gargles every 4 hr are also needed. but may be,you dont need to worry, adults dont get sick that easily.

Medications are not good after sitting on your shelve. They should be used or discard the portion you do not take. They loose their strength.

Call your doctor and do the right thing. It is not worth it. You could make yourself sicker than you are.

you might get it. the doctor should have prescribed something for him. don't give him meds that were given to you, an adult. he's a kid. he needs to take ALL the antibiotics, however much they gave him, just as you should have taken all yours. it's important to take ALL the meds, so you don't have the strep come back. don't take the cheap way out, get his Rx filled.

The music is via Meatloaf, one in all his few hits. And he's purposefully imprecise approximately what IT (the factor he won't do) is. i think of it kinda leaves it open to the listener to ask themselves, what's the single factor *I* does no longer do for romance? what's the single factor you does no longer provide up, even for the affection of your life? all people could have a different answer - their honor, their life, their faith, their freedom, and so on. So the actual message is extra approximately YOUR reaction than the singer's.
