during the day I have a bit of runny nose, and just generally run-down feeling but can breathe fine, HOWEVER, at night just before going to bed, I have difficulty breathing through my nose? (I usually take a warm shower before going to bed).

RN: you could well be right, but I did have some yellow discharge when I sneezed, which I'm not sure if can happen if I do have an allergy. I have no known history of allergy.

I've later developed cough as well, really don't think it's allergy.

it sounds more like allergies than a cold, you might try taking an antihistamine before bed. I use Loratidine, generic claritin, it is available now without prescription.

It does sound like an allergy. The nasal discharge in allergies is usually clear, but may have a slight yellow hue. Allergies usually are worse in AM and PM. Could be allergic to something in your home, which may be why its worse in the AM & PM. I ofte cough with allergies.
